Digital camera reviews of SanDisk Cruzer Micro 4 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive SDCZ6-4096-A11Digital camera Review: Defective after a few months Summary: 1 Stars
I liked this product, software and all, until it quit working. I guess it worked for about 5-7 months. I used it every day at work. It started giving messages like "This device can perform faster if you connect it to a USB 2.0 port." which means it wasn't connecting at full USB 2.0 even though it IS a USB 2.0 port. It also became unstable so that if you even breathed on it, it would disconnect. That would happen no matter what PC I connected it to. Sometimes it won't connect at all and I get the "Device not recognized" message and I have to keep unplugging / plugging back in until I can access it. I simply can't trust this USB drive or give it other than a bad rating because of this.
Digital camera Review: Dependable flash drive Summary: 4 Stars
Needed this to reinstall Windows on a computer and came in handy (usually you need at least a 4gig card to do it). I've formatted it a few times and it still works like a charm. The plastic body it's in feels a bit flimsy and at first appearance I didn't think the the locking mechanism that keeps the male head out would work. But it does. Once out, the head can only recede if you slide the switch. Just pushing it in isn't going to do it. All in all, solid flash drive for the price.
Digital camera Review: Does what it's suppose to and more. Summary: 5 Stars
Bought this after my S*ny micro-vault died in less than a year of gently use. Got it, plugged it in and saw proprietary software....mmmm, yah/.
Well, the proprietary is actually pretty use full. It's security software that password protects your drive and keeps folders synced, which is kinda cool. It only uses about 20mb's of space, and doesn't install on your computer.
But, if you don't like that stuff you can always format.
The drive itself is nice, compact, and sturdy feeling. The clear (or white) part on the top is actually a light, it flashes quickly when it's being accessed, slowly when it's safe to remove, which is a nice touch.
The drive preforms like a champ. Read and Write and very, very fast ( around 42 mb/s).
I'd definitely buy another one or four for the price. :)

This flash drive started give me problems right away. Not at all a reliable memory device. In the future, I will not buy SanDisk products.
Digital camera Review: Don't buy this-- it is EVIL Summary: 1 Stars
I have bought SanDisk products for years and they've been fine. But no more. Like the other reviewer said, this thing installs software on your computer without asking; you plug it in and it starts loading. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS. You can't stop it. It actually CAN be uninstalled, but you have to jump through hoops. Google "uninstall U3" if you need help. Or read the screen carefully after it opens, and follow the instructions to disable it (look in Settings)--But best to uninstall, then reformat the drive yourself to be sure (R click on drive name > format. Note that formatting will erase everything on the drive).
The program is some thing to help you run applications from your usb stick. Well, that is fine. Other companies put free software on their sticks. But it should NEVER run by itself, just by being plugged in. And it should be easily removable to free up room on the drive. Arrrrgh! What were they thinking?
I put it in my Mac first (Macs aren't affected by it), saw the thing listed and deleted it--but it still ran when I put it in my PC! Double evil! I have used the Mac to uninstall this program, but I had to download a program, install it, restart the computer, then run the uninstall program!
I assume this U3 thing is on SanDisk's other drives as well. Beware! Complain to SanDisk: support@sandisk.com
