Digital camera reviews of SanDisk Cruzer Micro 4 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive SDCZ6-4096-E11Digital camera Review: A great little Thumbdrive Summary: 4 Stars
It used to be that when you needed to go help fix someone else's computer, you would have a stack of floppies that had the programs you needed to do the job. Then came CD, which while bigger than a floppy, held quite a bit more. Then came the idea of using Linux Live CD distros as a tool to fix other people's computers.
Now with the 4GB flash drive you can do all of that in a package that's easy to carry in your pocket, and unfortunately also very easy to lose. The end retracts to make this just over 2" long and about 3/4" wide. That's pretty damn small.
It DOES come with a little ring on one end so you can attach it to your keys or whatever. I suggest putting a string or something on it because even if you just set this down for a second you WILL lose it. It's almost too small.
It comes preloaded with some software that you'll probably never use, but on the other hand, if you like being able to use skype but don't want it on your computer permanently, that'll be handy, as it's one of the included applications.
In any case, this is great for the total storage almost equalling a DVD, so you can put a larger Linux distro on there and still have room for some windows applications too.
Digital camera Review: A lifesaver. Summary: 5 Stars
Purchase this a month ago because of the U3 software. Now some will say it is slow with U3 software. Well probabily so, its not really fast but, it is not really slow either. I found the programs decent. I am a Firefox user and where I work doesn't allow you to add programs on your computer. You have to use Windows. I can browse with Firefox at work now. I can also download info straigh to the drive itself. No real trace on the computer. Sometimes I get questionable e-mails of really poor taste. I can now feel safe viewing them with the CruzerSync software. I can get updates to email anywhere I go as well as Syncing with Outlook and viewing appts, task, ect., right on the drive.
When I screw up my computer this weekend I had to reimage it but I wasn't high and dry. I could keep updated and send work docs on any PC with this great drive. I own bigger hard drives with back up software but this is very portable. What a lifesaver!!!!
If you are a person with a lot of admin restrictions at work; you will proabily not like it but, if you are a Network Admin or an IS/IT person you are going to love it.
Digital camera Review: A little plasticky but no problems Summary: 4 Stars
I have the 4GB Cruzer and I'm quite pleased with it. The U3 app is a little slow and I haven't really had much call for it or the CD Drive creation but I'm not ruling it out for the future. It's not particularly obtrusive. I've never had any problem ejecting the usual XP way either. The convenience of the Cruzer over dragging an external hard drive around far outweighs the U3 distraction.
Digital camera Review: A very good buy. Summary: 5 Stars
I always use SanDisk products for backing up important files, and I previously bought an 8gig version for my most important papers. I bought the 4 gig one this time because I just need it for photos and music. I think these are the finest USB drives for the price, they have never failed me.
Digital camera Review: An excellent purchase Summary: 5 Stars
Something I hate of my computer's office is that I don't have the user rights to install anything. I can't change the wallpaper, I can't install Babylon (my favorite translator), I have to use the very nasty Outlook and I'm unable to install skype. With Cruzer Micro I've turned my boring office computer in my personalized computer. I needed about 1 GB of space in order to install: Foxit (a Pdf reader), Skype, OpenOffice, Avast Antivirus, Mozilla Thuntherbird and Firefox, Infranview, Babylon, Winrar, Zinio reader, etc.
