Digital camera reviews of SanDisk Cruzer Micro 4 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive SDCZ6-4096-E11Digital camera Review: Cruzer Micro 2 GB Summary: 1 Stars
Like some others here I feel quite annoyed with this product. I bought it because it was small, 2GB and had no cap to lose - not that I have ever lost one but less is more in this case. I used it on the PC and became quite irritated with the U3 interface, it presented a layer of interference I did not need - I wanted a 2GB flash memory device that would mount and unmount like the others I use, but U3 was constantly in the way.
I also use a Mac and I am migrating more work onto a Mac laptop for a variety of reasons, but everytime I used the SanDisk on the Mac I got aq CD which wanted to be burnt - I could NOT get it to work properly. So finally, in frustration, I set aside some time to investiagate this and I read that this product is not compatible with a Mac.
I may be mistaken but I was sure I read that it worked equally well with PCs and Macs, but even so - this is a Flash memory drive. I would never have thought anything other than I plug it in and bang - 2GB storage!
Well. I'll read the package much more carefully in the future. I'll also keep the packaging for longer so I can return the thing. As it is, I have wasted my money.
Lawrence - displeased...
Digital camera Review: Customer Service??? Summary: 1 Stars
The first Cruzer I purchased would not work at all. I spent an hour on the phone with the offshore customer service before an RMA would be provided. I received the replacement several weeks later. That's when the fun really began. I just wanted to use it as a ReadyBoost device and it is labeled ReadyBoost enabled. The problem is the U3 software on the device is not. This software causes an error in the device manager. The U3 software cannot be uninstalled with a Vista machine. The same offshore SanDisk customer service tells me to uninstall the software on an XP machine. After attempting to get several customer service reps to understand I don't have an XP machine, I am told to take it to a neighbor. I said I don't have a neighbor with an XP so the rep says take it to a computer store and do it on a store machine. I am stunned by the lack of customer service.
Digital camera Review: Decent USB drive for the price Summary: 3 Stars
I purchased this USB drive about six months ago and have been using it quite frequently since. The first thing I did was uninstall the U3 software. It was annoying and inconvenient whenever I would plug the drive into a computer. I don't need any fancy bells and whistles on a thumb drive. I just want a thumb drive that provides portable storage space. You can keep the software. Just recently the drive started to act really finicky. A lot of times when I would plug it into a computer it wouldn't recognize. The orange light would glow for a split second then go out. The drive would never show up. I would have to constantly plug it and keep taking it out until it would recognize. Even when it was plugged in and recognized it would stop working after awhile. I was working on a document located on the drive and lost all my work when the drive decided to stop working. This was the case on several computers I tested it on so I narrowed the problem down to being the drive itself. In the future I am going to be more skeptical of USB drives with retractable connectors which I think might be the culprit here. The constant sliding in and out of the connector might take its toll on the inner working of the device. It was fun while it lasted SanDisk. Fortunately I'll be using this opportunity to upgrade to a bigger and better USB drive. One that is built more solid, has better reviews, and doesn't come with frivolous software.
Digital camera Review: Did Not Work Summary: 1 Stars
I've had a lot of flash drives and this is the first one that wouldn't work. Errors, doesn't copy data, maybe it's a conflict with the preloaded software.
Digital camera Review: Didn't buy this product, because... Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased a PNY 4GB Attache' instead. I noticed that the SanDisk is U3 compatible, which might've made me buy it -- that is, until I found out that you have to PAY for U3 software! I couldn't believe it! Don't waste your time or money on U3 programs 'cause you can get great software FOR FREE from PortableApps. Otherwise, SanDisk is a good choice...just stay away from U3!
