Digital camera Review: Digital Media Source's 4GB flash drive fiasco

The first flash drive arrived in a perfectly intact outer envelope, only the NEW product's packaging ripped and shredded. The flash drive didn't work. I contacted Digital Media Source and they told me to package the flash drive carefully since they wouldn't be responsible for damage!!!!!!! They did send a replacement, which also didn't work. I tested in on my Mac, I tested in on my friend's Mac, I tested it on my Gateway PC and my friend's PC. It didn't work. I returned it again. They wrote back to let me know it was my fault, since when they tested it, it did work. I hope for the sake of the next person they send it to that it really does work. I feel I have to write a quick review to balance that posted by an obviously upset patron ("Mike") who posted a review even though he didn't buy this particular model (he purchased the 512mb). Look, the bottom line is this thing works as advertised (it does say "WITH U3") and it works just fine. No problems to report after a month of us on my part. 4 gbs is a lot of photos and video to haul around and you can. And it is a Sandisk, best selling maker of flash memory products (haven't had one fail yet regardless of the type... CF, SD, the Cruzers, etc.). So, in the end... Don't be like Mike. Know what you're buying first and if you get this one, know that it'll work just fine.Digital camera Review: Don't worry about U3

I've been seeing a lot of complaints in the customer reviews about the U3 software that comes embedded on the drive and I got to admit I didn't like it either. But don't let that stop you from buying this great product. The U3 software can be easily removed! For a 4GB flash drive its priced pretty cheaply, it has a retractable port so you dont have to worry about losing the cap, and it comes with a nice little necklace thing to keep it around your neck so you dont lose it. Did i mention the cool orange light that glows whenever you plug it in? So what are you waiting for? Dont miss out!Digital camera Review: Even better with U3 included

I've been ad advocate for SanDisk USB drives for quite some time now. I really liked the old Silver Cruzor Micros.
The difference between this one and my old Cruzer Micro are how I can rate this.
The Old:
Good - Had a Very sturdy solid metal clip on the back for my keychain.
Bad - Lost the cap on it soon after buying and still carry it around with no cap. Still works, but no protection on the port.
The New (U3):
Good - Slider. Protects USB male port. In fact, excellent!
Bad - Flimsy keychain ring. Already fell off my keychain once.
I really like this new Cruzor, however. I'm not a fan of pre-installed software made to "make our lives easier". I'd rather do it the manual way, usually. I was curious about U3 and with the price, I jumped in. Now, I'm so used to the U3 software on this stick that I use it everytime. It's stable for me and VERY easy to navigate around.
The drive itself is sturdy and dependable. Fast and easy to use. I'm glad I made this purchase. Just wish the keyring would have been as good as the old Cruzer Micros.
