Digital camera Review: Flimsy.

So far I've owned three Cruzer Micros: 256MB, 1GB, and 4GB, and the quality has steadily declined. The 256MB was encased in 1/16" of hard rubber on all sides, you could step on it without breaking it, and it felt like it was even waterproof (never tried :) The 1GB (with soft rubber "Skins") unit was about the same size, but the three skins degraded to shreds in a year in my pocket with keys rubbing them. Luckily the naked brushed-metal Cruzer looks great and doesn't scratch. The 4GB model is even bigger than the original 256MB one but this time has a cheap plastic exterior, and the LED is on only one side (the sliding panel glows) instead of on the end like the previous models. Guess which direction it faces when I plug it into the handy USB plug on my monitor? You guessed it. Away from me! I popped the case off, and the insides are exactly the same size as the 1GB model. They need to go back to the original casings which deserved the name "Micro".

I am not sure why people are so upset about the U3 function. It simplifies the process of using the flashdrive on multiple computers. I can take my Cruzer Micro to a new machine at any office, plug in, and have access to all my essential files and e-mails. Even if the machine has no word processor or Excel, I can use my openoffice equivalent to do work without any trouble.
For those who really don't like it, Sandisk makes removal very easy with the current version of their software on their web site.

I USED TO USE I GB USB AND FAST STARTED TO HAVE MORE THAN ONE BECAUSE OF THE LOT OF WORK SO WHEN I WAS LOOKING FOR SOME INFO I HAD TO SEARCH IN EACH ONE, NOW WHIT THIS CRUZER THAT PROBLEM ENDED. I'm very pleased with this product so far, I haven't had any problems. Being able to carry 4gb of info on my keychain and able to take it anywhere is very helpful. It's very compact and the retractable usb is cool (and functional) too. As for the U3, to me, I think it's absolutely worthless and defeats the whole purpose of having a flash drive due to the amount of time it takes to start-up/load system files. It loads software on each computer it's plugged into and it adds a CD Drive on My Computer to hold it's system files. To me, it was just a waste of space (minimal space, but a waste) and I opted to remove the U3 permanently. If you like the idea of the drive, but don't want U3, just go to www.u3.com/uninstall to remove it. If Sandisk hadn't pre-installed the U3, I would have given this 5 stars.
