Digital camera Review: 1st One Dog Slow, Replacement Much Better

I bought a 8GB Sandisk Cruzer Micro online from Staples and its write speed was incredibly slow - 4x slower than my 4GB Cruzer and 25% slower than my 8GB Kingston Data Traveler.
I took it back to a Staples store and they exchanged it without question (I usually find Staples to be pretty user friendly). The new drive falls somewhere between my other two in terms of speed and is completely acceptable.
Even though these low end drives aren't rated for speed, shame on Sandisk for selling such variability in the same package. If you get a slow one, by all means return or exchange it!
I got rid of the U3 software - you might find it useful. The package doesn't make existence of the U3 preload very clear, but it's easy to remove.
Pros - Small & retractable, often cheap for its capacity.
Cons - Apparently it's a crapshoot as to how fast the drive will be.

Plenty of memory in a small package. Software that comes with the Cruzer is mostly useful, but sometimes slows down the simple task of just using the device to exchange data with another computer. It can be removed, but its useful enough that I haven't opted to do so. I have two other flash drives but this San Disk is my favorite. It is just perfect for me. Put it in your pocket or briefcase and away you go. No problem.
I had no use for the u3 smart drive and deleted it.
