Digital camera Review: Cruzer, king of portables

Reluctantly bought the product since another USB drive, the Corsair, had more positive and numerous reviews -the problem I saw with the Corsair is it was too bulky. So I decided for the Cruzer. And I am not disappointed at all.
First, the USB plug gets in and out cleanly without getting stuck on the way. No more lost caps.
Second, SECURITY is fantastic. It DOES work. Without a password, that you create when you insert for the first time the USB drive, nobody can access the files in the drive. You will not be able to access it with a file explorer without entering a password first. Ideal if you carry personal and confidential information in it. No worries if you lose it. The only way anybody, the lucky one who finds the drive, can access the drive again is to format it.
Third, PORTABLE applications. There is a new wave of software applications that will run from a USB drive without modifying the settings in the host computer. In Windows is a pain since most of the commercial applications write to the registry. And even more helpful if you have at work a locked computer. The Cruzer comes with a set of applications built in and you can add even more from the U3 website or from [...]. Most of the applications are very well known Open Source. Personally, I love "WinDirStat" (generates a graphic map of your PC drives and folders and tells what files are taking the most of your disk space, ideal for cleanup day), and "KeePass Password Safe" which is a vault for that multitude of passwords so common today.
I was just buying a USB drive with 8GB and ended up getting unexpected extra value. That made me so happy.

This is the worst experience I ever had with a flash drive.
Four corrupt files later (never had that happen before), it required formatting(!). Great! Now, EVERYTHING is GONE.
But wait...that's what Tech Support told me to do. Happily, I had most of the important stuff backed up...but WOW. And when I explained that I wanted a refund, they told me it was WORKING FINE!!! FINE?!? My data is GONE! How is that FINE?!

Size / form factor seemed good when I bought it months ago, slider and side light worked well... but the flash drive itself just didn't last long, even with light use. Unfortunately it died abruptly and with finality in the middle of a time-crunch project when I was relying on it (typical behavior for technology, to be sure) so I can't recommend it.Digital camera Review: Didnt work out of the box

This thumb drive didnt not work right out of the box and the supplier said he didnt have any more. He wouldnt refund the orginal S&H or the S&H to send it back to him so he could tell me it was no good. It cost me 7.00 to find out this thing didnt workDigital camera Review: Died after 3 months

I used this flash drive semi frequently for work. After 3 months it stopped working for no reason. I plugged it in, and no computer would recognize it. I searched all over the internet, and the only help I could get was "the drive is bad, you have to buy a new one". I lost a bunch of information, that I cannot recover unless I sent it somewhere and pay $50+ for them to do it. Cheap price for a horrible product. Do your research and spend a little more money on something better.
