Digital camera reviews of SanDisk Cruzer Titanium 4 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive SDCZ7-4096-A10

Digital camera Review: Apple Mac OS X 10.1.2+ --- Erase U3, Reformat, Name --- Good to Go
Summary: 5 Stars

I don't own the 4 GB. I own the 2 GB which identical except for capacity.

My review is for Apple OS X 10.1.2+ users who may want one. SanDisk's website and most sellers, say it is only for Windows. I emailed SanDisk's technical staff. You can use it on OS X 10.1.2+, but you can't use the U3 programs. Incidentally, many PC users neither want nor use U3 either.

You need a PC friend to download the little program from the SanDisk website that deletes U3 on your SanDisk in his USB port. Then, use your Mac's Disk Utility to Erase Free Space, Name and Volume Format in Mac OS Extended (journaled) for full storage capacity. Well worth the effort. The SanDisk is good looking, functional and nearly bulletproof. It's MUCH easier than it sounds. Just go step by step.

I did this and it works beautifully with my iMac G4 running OS X 10.4.11!

If you have a new Intel Mac, you don't even need a PC friend.

Digital camera Review: As good as I'd anticipated, and more!
Summary: 5 Stars

I already had the older, plastic SanDisk Cruzer 4GB and was fairly happy with it, except for one thing: the plastic casing is kind of flimsy.

The regular Cruzer tends to flex quite a bit, and given that I keep it on my keychain, I had to be very cautious about the way I handle my keys. The only reason I didn't buy the Ti version was because they only made it up to the 2GB model.

As soon as they came out with the 4GB, I jumped on it. This thing is fantastic! I've accidentally flung the thing onto a marble floor and on cement a few times and it keeps on ticking. It's not just an aesthetic, it really is durable (albeit not literally bullet-proof like ones I've seen...).

I've had no glitches (despite the drops), and the U3 software that comes with it is great. I use Carry It Easy, which lets me synch my files between my work machine and my personal machine, which makes ensuring I have the most current files a very simple and quick button click away (although you can also automate it).

Without the U3 software, in previous flash drives I've owned, I've had to manually copy and paste files, which can become daunting quickly when the drives began to rise above 1GB in capacity.

Now, with the U3 software, it's a simple process, files are encrypted and password protected, both by the Carry-It-Easy software as well as the U3 "OS" -- the files are well-protected physically as well, with the metallic case.

It's the best 4GB flash drive out there. The only thing that could replace it would be a larger capacity model in the same exact casing!

Digital camera Review: As good as they get
Summary: 5 Stars

This flash drive is as good as I've seen. The only drawback to it is the U3 operating system and the scanning software included - as good as it is is not Vista compatible. The drive still works flawlessly with Vista, and it works beautifully with XP. The real bonus though is the virtually indestructable Titanium alloy liquid metal shell, the optional included Titanium clip, and the well made secure lanyard. It is truly a thing of beauty, and tremendous utility. At these prices I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Digital camera Review: Awesome

This is an awesome flash drive, tons of space, really fast, very durable. Smaller than i thought too. Great buy.

Study, attractive, and gets the job done. Bought this unit to replace one I had lost. It can be a bit slow at times, but I am beginning to attribute this to my aging system. One nice thing about this drive is it is sturdy and not a piece of plastic.
