Digital camera reviews of SanDisk ImageMate 12-in-1 USB 2.0 Flash Memory Card Reader SDDR-89-A15

Digital camera Review: Blazing Fast!
Summary: 5 Stars

Needing a card reader for 3 types of cards, I decided on the Sandisk ImageMate 12 in 1 card reader. Might as well spend the money, and have one that reads everything. Hooked up the usb, and my pc, with Windows Me, recognized it right away. Download speed from card to pc, was blazing fast. I had always used a usb cable with my camera to pc, but after using the 12 in 1 card reader,it is so much easier and faster to use. Cradle that reader sits in, is nice also. It keeps the reader out of the way, and takes up only inches of my pc desk. I'm sold on card readers from now on. I'd give this reader a 10 out of 10 stars.

Digital camera Review: Bloated Software; Useless Drivers
Summary: 1 Stars

This card reader requires a 30MB TransferMate application to access the individual slots. Why can't this USB hub run in Plug-And-Play mode?

I got this card reader to work once, then I unplugged it and tucked it away until I needed it again. When I went to plug it in later, I was told the driver failed to load because Windows was unable to locate the software for it. That is bad!

My PC is a DELL D820 laptop (WinXP Pro, 1GB RAM, 100GB HDD) that I use for work as a software developer, and being a software developer, I feel pretty knowledgable with computers.

This device should not be that hard to use!

I've tried uninstalling everything, rebooting my PC, then reinstalling the software, but I can't get it to run the card reader any more.

It looks pretty, but I recommend you find something simpler.

Digital camera Review: Broken after 8 months
Summary: 1 Stars

For a while it worked okay, same as any other card reader I guess. Then the XD slot started not accepting the card until 9 or 10 retries. Then the Compact Flash slot starting doing the same thing. Now the XD slot has stopped working altogether and the Compact Flash slot only works if I physically hold the card in, applying a fair bit of pressure.

Digital camera Review: Buggy
Summary: 1 Stars

It worked for a while but soon I started getting autoplay boxes appearing for no reason. Couldn't figure out why until I unplugged the thing. Then it wouldn't read anything. I've had better success buying cheapo card readers at Frys. Less money and I haven't had any of them go bad yet.

Digital camera Review: Card reader
Summary: 5 Stars

Works great and priced right. Recently bought an 8GB SDHC that didn't work for the purpose I bought it. I was able to use this card reader and the SD card on my older PC as extra memory. The reader is fast.
