Digital camera reviews of SanDisk Sansa Clip 2 GB MP3 Player (Black)

Digital camera Review: Active Users, beware
Summary: 3 Stars

About a month ago, I bought my first Sansa Clip 2 GB to use while running. I was definitely impressed by the player out of the box. Great sound quality, and jam packed with features for a low price. The one thing that I did have slight problem with was the weak headphones, the shielding for the cord has seperated from the plug and the headphones probably won't last much longer.

As I said before, I bought my Sansa Clip to run with. I figured that a player with a built in clip would be great to use, since I would not have to worry about carrying it or having somewhere to put it. Well, it turns out that it's not quite that simple.

My first clip lasted about two weeks. It stopped functioning properly during a run. Apparently, my sweat had killed the player. Although it would still turn on when plugged in, it would not turn on when not plugged into the computer. So I had to get it replaced.

Obviously this time I sought a case for the Clip to keep it protected. This is where I ran into another snag. The Clip has very few third-party accessories. EVERY case I could find online or in stores left the USB B port exposed (so you don't have to take the case off, obviously, but what about those of us that want sometihng more durable?). Regardless, I opted to buy a silicon case, hoping it would extend the life of my player.

Well, that point became irrelevant, since my SECOND player died today.... again from sweat alone. It was not raining, I did not pour water on myself, it was just clipped to my shorts and it died.

The Clip is a great player, but probably not if you're doing any intense activity. The lack of third-party support seems to kill it here. Looks like it's back to the 512 MB Shuffle, which has yet to fail me.

Digital camera Review: It survived the wash machine!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought the sansa clip a few months ago, and have found it to be a great little MP3 player. I mainly use it for the gym and yard work. The reason I bought this particular one is because of the great reviews on sound quality, and the fact that I had no intentions of watching videos or viewing pictures on it. I have had no trouble syncing it to my computer either at work or home, and playlists from Window Media Player 11 show up fine on it. Another plus is that it plays audiobook files (something I am just getting into).

One thing that nearly turned into a downside of the clip is how small it is. Last week after using it while mowing the lawn, I left it in my pocket, and threw my shorts in the laundry at the end of the day. Well it got sent through an entire wash cycle. I was pretty bummed, but at the same time I figured this would give me a reason to buy the new 4G clip. Well, I set it on top of the de-humidifier for a couple days to let it dry out as I could see water in the area of the screen. After giving it a chance to dry, I plugged it into the computer. It started charging right away, and now works like a charm. This little sucker is nearly indestructible.

Digital camera Review: Not For Runners
Summary: 1 Stars

Got Sansa Clip and was very impressed. Good sound and easy to load. I used Clip just for running. After 5 days (about 8 miles a day) clip quit working and would not turn on again. Tried to reset but still would not work. Got a replacement and it lasted about 2 weeks before doing the exact same thing. Going to try a Zen Stone next.

Digital camera Review: Handy player, good sound, great price
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my first MP3 player and I'm very happy with it. It is very easy to use. Unlike the iPod shuffle, it has a display that makes it much easier to navigate. One minor nit to pick is that there's no "stop" button. The clip can also come detached if you don't handle it properly. But otherwise, great marks all around.

Digital camera Review: Good for music & audiobooks but not podcasts
Summary: 3 Stars

I like the size & sound quality of the Sansa Clip. Like that playback on each audio book & podcast can be resumed from just where you stopped even after playing other music or podcast files. Like the adjustable playback speed options for files in the podcast & audio book folders. Wish there were a couple even faster playback speeds & that I could set the user button to toggle between speeds. One thing that I don't like is having to play each podcast individually. When one ends you have to hit the buttons & navigate to the next. Files in the podcasts folder play in date sequence not file name or other tag sequence. Because of that I use the Clip for music & audio books but keep my old Samsung YP-U2J for podcasts.
