Digital camera reviews of SanDisk Sansa Clip 4 GB MP3 Player (Silver)

Digital camera Review: Best bang for your buck!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am so happy with this cute little mp3 player! I didn't like the idea of paying more money for a certain brand, so I searched around and found this little Sansa clip. After reading the reviews on Amazon and other tech sites(check out the Sansa Clip on youtube) I was convinced so I got the 4GB silver Clip. The sound quality is absolutely amazing and it is so easy to use!

My father-in-law got a Shuffle a few weeks before I got my clip and he's still struggling with how to load songs onto it, whereas I simply drag and drop the songs I want onto the little Sansa icon. It comes with a free 30 day trial of Rhapsody, which I am using, but you don't even need it. Simply use whatever media program you already have on your computer. And unlike the Shuffle, I have a screen on mine so that I can change to a different artist or playlist if I want to, or change the settings.

One things I learned the hard way is that the clip will only charge while it's on, so I got concerned that it wasn't holding a charge. Just make sure it's on while you're charging it. You might also want to look into getting the protective cover/charger bundle. As soon as I got the cover on mine I dropped it, but there was no damage at all. On the other hand, if you have a charger for a Motorola Razor it will work with the Sansa Clip. And if earbuds hurt your ears, like they do mine, you might want to invest in good pair of earplugs. I got the JVC Air Cushions and they are amazing!

All in all I would highly recommend this Sansa Clip to anyone who just wants to have a good mp3 player but doesn't want to spend a whole lot of money to get one. And if you're not too tech-savy, no problem with this little thing. The screen is great, the AM-FM tuner is great, the sound quality is phenomenal, and the price is just right.

Digital camera Review: Best bang for your buck!
Summary: 4 Stars

If you are in the market for a flash based player within the 30-80 dollar range, the Sansa clip series is hard to beat! For the same price of a Ipod Shuffle you can get a player with a screen, microphone, radio, recorder and more. I was stunned by the sound this thing produces. They claim it has some of the best sound produced by a mp3 player period, and they aint lying. This isnt just good by a "cheap" player standard but by all standards. The only gripe I might have is that the clip of the "Clip" is detachable and has the potential to pop off, but thats truly a minor quip. Definitely pick this up!

Digital camera Review: Best little player out there!
Summary: 5 Stars

I rarely write reviews, but couldn't resist after buying the clip. I was looking for a player that could play both [...]'s proprietary audio book format and the open source audio ogg format. I chose this player because it was the only inexpensive player that handled both formats out of the box. It turned out that it's an excellent little player that just happens to support these desirable formats.

It's great for podcasts and audiobooks because you can leave many podcasts and audiobooks partially listened to and then, when you return, you can resume them where you left off. That is, it's got automatic bookmarking for many files at the same time -- a great feature. Also, the sound is great. The build quality seems good. And you it's a no brainer that the screen on these units is wonderfully useful compared to the no-screen ipod shuffles. Don't fall for the Apple trap! Get this feature-rich, superior product that is only lacking the apple name, for those that buy things for name recognition.

Digital camera Review: Best mp3 player (sound quality)/(size*price)
Summary: 5 Stars

It is simply one of the best mp3 player in the market, if the only 2 thing you care about is sound quality and mobility.
It has MSC mode and works perfectly under Linux (Ubuntu in my case). However it does not support directory structure as some others (like Samsung k5 with kr firmwares).
It is small enough to be unnoticeable if you decide to take for a run.

Having said this the 2 Gb version I owned before crashed a couple of months ago for no apparent reason. But I got the same 4 Gb model.

P.S. Be sure to install the latest firmware when you get it.

Digital camera Review: Bookmarks, please
Summary: 3 Stars

Pros -

* It's well-built and durable. I've had a bunch of Creatives, which were easier to use, but they all crapped out mechanically or electronically in three to six months.

* The clip is a great idea. Contrary to other reviews, it's solid and durable.

* Battery life seems fine to me, but I play mostly at low volume, and I've never actually measured it.

Cons -

* No bookmarks. I listen to podcasts in bed while drifting off to sleep. With my Creatives, I got in the habit of setting a bookmark every few minutes. If I nodded off, I could easily go back and pick up pretty close to where I was when last awake. With the Clip, all you can do is wade through a fairly awkward menu and set a sleep timer for, say, 10 minutes (After 1 year,I still can't do this in the dark, my benchmark for good design). If you manage to stay awake for longer than that, the thing shuts off and you have to laboriously repeat the process. And, when you wake up, now you have to manually rewind ten minutes to be sure you haven't missed anything. Plus, sometimes you just want to bookmark a specific spot in the file for future reference.

* There's no "play one song / podcast and then stop" mode.

I realize that I may not use my player the way others do, but how hard can it be to write firmware that allows these simple features?
