Digital camera reviews of SanDisk Sansa Fuze 8 GB Video MP3 Player (Silver)Digital camera Review: Beware. This player NOT for video Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this player specifically to play my favorite episodes of my favorite tv series. I have purchased legal copies of Supernatural, but the Sansa Fuze will not let me transfer them, since they carry the DRM codes. The media converter will not accept those codes and Sansa has no plans to ever make legally purchased videos accessible for this player.
If you want to play pirated videos, the Fuze may be your thing. But if you want to be legal, go with a more enlightened company.
As far as ease of use and music playing, I have no complaints. However it angers me that I can't use this for the purpose I bought it for. I could have bought a much cheaper player--or lived with what I had--if all I wanted was music.
Digital camera Review: Big disapointment! Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased an 8 GB Sansa Fuze from another store (for $20 more than Amazon's price) and the battery would never charge after three attempts on three different computers. Also, none of the computers would recognize that the drive was plugged in. It's definitely going back and I'm not sure if I'm willing to try another one.
Digital camera Review: Bit finicky, but cheap Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this as a replacement for my aging iPod. It's not as easy to use as the iPod - I had to go through my music library and convert AAC files to mp3 (and remove the DRM protection from my purchased songs.) Also, it didn't read the id tags correctly (my iPod had no problems), but when I converted all to id3 tags to v2.2 it worked fine.
The inability to use the scroll wheel as a means to fast forward to different spots in a song (as the iPod does) is also a negative.
But it does the job of playing music and (small screen) movies once all the crinkles are worked out, the low price and ability to expand the memory are a huge positive.
Digital camera Review: Bomb Diggity Mp3 Player Summary: 4 Stars
Okay, it's not an iPod...but it is what it is. I bought this mp3 player on sale, so maybe that made it a great deal. However, it is usually priced much lower than the iPod and still retains many of the same features plus more!
Sansa made a wise decision when they included a MicroSD port as perhaps the best extra feature for their mp3 players. You can easily double or triple your data capacity and interchange cards that hold different movies or play lists. Does iPod offer that? NO, but probably in the future they will have something similar.
Other pluses include the radio tuner, so you can catch the news or emergency weather information. I thought the voice recorder option was pretty cool as well.
I'd say one of the drawbacks is the interface or software running on the Sansa mp3 players. They are fairly easy to use, and similar to iPod functionality, but I feel it could be better. With the ability of the Fuze, I think Sansa could have offered a better looking interface and perhaps the function of video games. However, there is the option of RockBox...
Looks are definitely not everything, Sansa mp3 players pack quite a punch for the size and price. For those of you that do care about looks, it has a very sleek designed case and the circular LED back light is pretty cool.
Digital camera Review: Bought for a gift Summary: 5 Stars
Got this for a friend. He loves it. Hasn't put it down since Christmas. Says it is very easy to operate.
