Digital camera reviews of SanDisk Sansa c250 2 GB MP3 Player (Black)

Digital camera Review: Couldn't be happier
Summary: 5 Stars

Although I considered getting a newer player with video capability, I've been more than pleased with the Sansa C250. The price/performance point is just about perfect!

I've had mine for about 6 weeks, and I use it primarily when running. It has been a dream to use. The setup and driver installation is simple, and I've had no problems using Windows Media player as my interface. Removing files is simple, by treating the connected player as a memory device, and going through My Computer to find and delete what I want changed. Genres and cover art install automatically when synchronizing.

Sound quality is very good. I am not an audio snob, but I like good fidelity -- and the player delivers very nice sound, even with the bundled ear buds. I don't find any reason to buy fancier ones.

My only gripe is a fairly awkward system for setting up playlists. The player groups songs by artist, album, and genre automatically; but, if you want any other sorting you better do it on the computer in your media player. The C250's menu and playlist selection system is hideously limited and slow. Another minor quibble is the way the volume control defaults to the uncomfortably loud midpoint on startup, instead of using the last volume setpoint.

Even with these in mind, I still rate the player as 5 stars. It's hard to find a product that will give anywhere near as much at this price point!

Digital camera Review: Create playlists with ease and get this instead of an iPod
Summary: 5 Stars

I got this MP3 player 4 years ago and I am still using it. Sound quality and battery life didn't change yet. I just replaced the original heaadphones since the wire was cut after 4 years and this is expected. I can use it very easily by hanging it on my neck in subway and bus trips daily and during my gym hours. I listened to tens of audio books with the device. Only drawback I found is that you can not use it for audible.com files (.aa files) since my mp3 player was not v2 version. Positives are changeable battery and Micro disk slot over an iPod.

Creating a playlist is very easy too:

1) Open the Sansa in 'My Computer'
2) Double click on the 'Playlist' folder
3) Drag the music you want from the computer into the 'Playlist' folder
4) Highlight all the files (or the files you want)
5) Right click
6) On the menu that pops up click "Create Playlist" - on my computer it's the very first option, in bold
7) Playlist will be created in the 'Playlist' folder
8) Name it whatever you want and enjoy!!

Now, my files were labeled numerically (ie: 01 Song, 02 Another Song) so they were in the order I wanted. If they're not in the order you want, follow these directions:

1) Right click on the playlist you've created
2) Select 'open' from the menu - on my computer, it's the very first option, in bold
3) A new window will open displaying the songs on the playlist
4) Highlight the song you want to move and click the arrows to move the song (you can also delete songs in this option).

Don't buy iPod to listen to mp3. Get 10 of these instead.

Digital camera Review: Customer Support Very Poor
Summary: 2 Stars

We purchased this model for our daughter's 2007 Christmas gift. By summer 2008, it didn't work. She tried working with customer support online but found her emails and inquiries unanswered for weeks at a time. There was always a new suggestion but never a solution. Finally, after months of this run around, I called the company. I was left with the impression they were far more concerned with completing their data base regarding defects than providing the customer with a product that worked. Now, in November, I have a promise of a new product- with warranty. I had to push to get the new product and then had to push harder for a warranty in case the new product was also defective. My daughter(17 yrs)is an emerging consumer and has already written Sansa off her list, I know I have.

Digital camera Review: DOES NOT WORK WITH VISTA
Summary: 1 Stars

I've been trying to get my computer to recgonize the sansa for 3 days. I've consulted with forums and written emails to support. They basically say "yeah there is an issue with it connecting to Vista" Vista cannot find a driver and sandisk does not supply one or have one online. So as the title says "DOES NOT WORK WITH VISTA". I now have a useless piece of electronics sitting on my desk.

Do not buy cause your gonna wish you hadn't.

Digital camera Review: Decent device, spoiled by stupid software engineering
Summary: 2 Stars

This is a reasonably decent device, spoiled by a lousy interface.
When you try to navigate in album mode, or in any other mode other than 'songs', it mixes up the album order. I have my mp3 albums named so that when you sort the songs in alphabetical order, the songs will be in the correct order within the album.

The Sansa device sorts the songs by the write time of the song to the player, making it impossible to play an album in the correct order. Compared to my iRiver player, this is junk.
