Digital camera reviews of SanDisk Sansa e250 2 GB MP3 Player with microSD Expansion Slot (Black)

Digital camera Review: 2 of my 3 Sansas have died...
Summary: 1 Stars

I purchased 3 of these players for myself and my 2 kids to use. The first one bit the dust shortly after we got it when it was connected to the computer for charging. When the PC went into screen saver mode the player died and never worked again. I spent over an hour on the phone with Sansa. I got lucky with that one since it was new, I wasn't destined to fare so well with the next episode affecting my player.

I had never used mine extensively since I have my laptop all day and play music on it, but I bought my Sansa to use on trips. After using it 3 days or so while on a trip abroad the player showed "low battery" then I got the dreaded wavy lines screen. It never worked again...no matter what I tried, hard reboot, downloading the sansa 'fix' that they recommended online, nothing worked leaving me high and dry with no music for the remainder of my month-long trip. The unit would just cycle on, then off without being able to ever get past the start splash screen.

Once back home, I emailed Sansa and asked for assistance. To date I never even received a reply or acknowledgement. I have not tried calling them but I did invest hours of time in remedies recommended online to no avail.

I really wanted to love these little players but it was my experience that they fail for no apparent reason, are difficult to use (files 'corrupt' and stop playing for unknown reasons) and are not intuitive for file transfer. I am not electronically "challenged" at all but I found them inconsistent in performance(files would show up named differently than when they were loaded, album art would refuse to associate on one album but would work with another, etc) Overall, they proved to be just a very buggy and temperamental product with 2 going bad in less than a year.

It's back to the mp3 drawing board for me...NO Sansas again!

Digital camera Review: 2-1/2 stars -- Goodbye Sansa; helloooo Zen!
Summary: 2 Stars

My brother gave me a Sansa e250 for Christmas, and I couldn't get enough of it because I love music. This was just what I was looking for: music on the go, something that'll fit in your pocket and something at least fifty bucks less than an iPod. And it worked great -- you notice I said "worked", right?

Now, I'm not going to lament on recording, FM, video or audiobook capabilities because I only use it for music (although the video capabilities really DO suck), nor do I mind that the songs on the player are listed in alphabetical order because I usually put the thing on shuffle anyway, but I'll talk about my experience. Two Saturdays ago I was listening to the player as I was heading up to my fiancée's house so we could hang out, and I noticed that at one point it just stopped playing. I took it out of my coat pocket and I noticed that it wasn't on any more. I then tried to turn it on for at least five minutes until it finally came back on, and the song that I was just playing WAS still listed, but there was a big red screen in front of it that said, "Synchronize to continue your music subscription."

Now, I was confused by that message for two reasons: 1) when my Sansa was plugged into my computer, it was set to sync automatically and 2) I just paid on my subscription to Napster a week prior. When I got home I emailed customer support; then I learned that SanDisk's support questions were answered via an online mail inbox called an eBox run through [...]. I received an email a day or so later stating that an answer to my problem was in my eBox and they gave me the link, but when I clicked the link, all that came up was a blank page. In fact, every page ON the CustomerNation site was blank except for the home page. Thus, I couldn't retrieve my message. I then tried formatting the player (I know, I know; it erases all the songs, but I still had then on my computer), and when I tried to add the songs again, it would get as far as 2% transferred and then I would receive an error stating that the player's device clock was not set properly.

I started to think that maybe the problem was with Napster, but then I looked on various boards and learned that people were having the same trouble when using services like Rhapsody, Yahoo! Music and URGE. So I ended up CALLING customer support, and I talked to three different people who each told me to try syncing through Windows Media Player and/or formatting it, both of which I had already tried. Then they told me to do it again like that would make a difference. Then the third person told me to unscrew the back of the unit and then remove then reinsert the battery, which was very frustrating; I mean, if the battery was intended to be removed easily, would the case be locked in with screws? Anyway, I gave the guy the battery ID number, and then he told me that I could send the unit back to them and that they would send me a new one. But then he told me that instructions on how to send it would be in my eBox, and I told him about the website problems, and all he did was repeat the same information. I felt like saying, "MF, are you listening???" Then the info was put in my eBox anyway, so of course I couldn't read it. And now, the player doesn't turn on at all if it isn't plugged into the computer; I even tried playing a song while it was plugged it, and as soon as I unplugged it, the unit went right off.

If you want a really good mp3 player for music alone, pick up a Creative Labs Zen V like I just did. It works great, has great support, costs less, and holds more songs. If your Sansa e250 still works after a few months, consider yourself one of the lucky ones.

Digital camera Review: 2GB MP3 Player
Summary: 3 Stars

This is my 2nd Sansa MP3 player and was a gift for my dad. The quality, once everything is done is fantastic. It seems easy to get around and play what you want, volume, sound quality - all great. However, the initial set up overshadows this greatness. It wouldn't work with my Mom's laptop because it didn't have a 2.0 USB port. My 1 year old computer had difficulty recognizing that the player was plugged in. And I had to contact SanDisk to find out how to remove the songs that the player initially came with. It all seemed quite awkward and hard to navigate. Again - I say, once it was done, it's been terrific. But very frustrating getting to that point.

Great alternative to the ipod. If you ever run out of room you can purchase the micro sd cards up to 2 GB. This product has an mp3 player, video player, radio, and picture viewer. The earbuds are somewhat comfortable, but I plan on buying different, more comfortable ones. Easy to wipe fingerprint smears off with a lintfree cloth. GREAT product and the price charged on Amazon makes the purchase worth it. Low price and high quality. I LOVE my Sansa 2 GB.

Digital camera Review: A Happy '70's Rock-n-Roller.
Summary: 5 Stars

For my first time use of any MP3 Player, it was a bit of a challange to learn downloading of music.

I was amazed on the sound quality from such small ear pieces. The Bands were playing in the center of my head. And Volume control was easy to manage.

Selection of which song was as easy as looking through a table of contents. Or running with the random play was a supprise on the mix of music that came together.

As a person that listens to my music as I garden, riding my motorcycle, or out at night looking at the stars. I have yet run the battery down on my first charge.

Over all I'm very happy with the SanDisk Sansa e250 Player.
