Digital camera reviews of SanDisk Sansa e250 2 GB MP3 Player with microSD Expansion Slot (Black)Digital camera Review: Aces!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Use for running and working out. Good size enough memory so I never get tierd of hearing the same song over.
Volume contol is different fom what I'm used to. I guess all the Ipods have the same wheel type control too.
It comes w/ about 20 songs that S-@%^*K!! so earase them right away using windows explorer or you'll be like me hunting them down after you've already put 200 songs in.
I haven't used the video or picture option yet.
Great product.
Digital camera Review: Adequate for MP3 Audio ... Worthless With Photos Summary: 2 Stars
Please understand, I've had good results with other Sandisk Products.
However, this MP3 player is terrible.
Admittedly, it will load and play simple MP3 audio files very well.
But, to load or view any photo/video file requires the (enclosed) 'Sansa Media Converter' software. This software is worthless. Even after numerous sessions with Sandisk's technical support I am unable to load or view even a small photo (JPG or BMP). I only paid $109.00 for this product. I guess you get what you pay for. Sandisk is marketing an inferior product with this MP3 player.
Digital camera Review: Affordable, Expandable, Small: MP3 Player to Buy in 2008 Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great product to pick up right now, in early 2008, as prices drop. The Sansa e250 should be a Nano-killer, and it's a great buy for anyone who wants an inexpensive flash mp3 player for exercising, walking, or general use. I've owned a bunch of mp3 players, including iPods and one Nano, and here are the selling points for this little Sansa e250:
* Expandable memory through SD Flash. Buy a 2GB and by next fall, you can upgrade it very affordably to some mega size (16 GB? flash memory prices are falling). You'll have a cheap flash player larger as big as some iPods.
* Good sound quality. Via headphones, this is indistinguishable from any of the top mp3/iPods I've listened to. Don't know how it sounds in an audio system, but I don't recommend that for any iPod or flash player, just my tastes.
* Affordability, affordable, cheap, well-priced ... This thing is $69 online and at Best Buy. A few players, like the also excellent Sansa Click, are $49, but they are not expandable. For $20, that's a great option.
* One more note on affordability: Flash players and iPods sometimes get crushed, lost, stepped on, or dropped in rivers (did I mention I've owned a few?). That's their nature, or rather, our nature as clutzes. It sure feels better to hear your front left tire crush a $69 player, as opposed to a $149 one. Trust me.
* FM Radio. It's a great option, available on the e250. Works great.
* Usability. Compared to some of the uber-small players out now, you get a more readable screen. The interface is minimal but easy to use - what you want on a flash player.
* Good size/form factor. It's not the Click, which is perhaps optimal in size, but it's small enough to attach to your clothes while running. I hold mine, which is plenty easy.
* Free 60-day Best Buy Digital Music Store trial (aka Rhapsody). I have gotten this with two of my past mp3 purchases. Have never signed up for the subscription service, i.e., never paid, but I love the 60-day free trial period. It's a great way to learn about new artists.
* Integration with Audible - pretty standard these days, but well done on the e250.
Negatives? There is not as wide a range of formats as you can play on a big old iPod or larger digital music player like the big Sansas or iRivers. But hey, this is your flash drive, for working out - for your selected collection, not the whole thing. And if you're strictly playing .wma or .mp3 files, you can in fact get the whole thing on there, using an SD flash card.
Bottom line: Probably the best deal out there now in the combination of features (FM, expandable), affordability (just $20 more than the cheapos), form factor/usability, and the not-to-be-overlooked sound quality.
Digital camera Review: Affordable, sleek alternative to the iPod Summary: 5 Stars
The Sansa e250 (2gb mp3, fm player) is an excellent alternative to the wildly exaggerated Apple iPod. In my opinion, Sandisk has done a great job in creating a sturdy, attractive, user-friendly and feature-laden music player for everyone of all ages. It has a bright screen, a nice scroll wheel with an attractive blue illumination, a logical menu layout, and it sports an attractive, glossy cover.
I don't know about you, but when I look for an mp3 player, I'm not just looking for looks, I'm looking for something that will last. I've gone through many el-cheapo, generic mp3 players that I shouldn't have, until I stumbled upon the Sansa e250. It is the perfect companion to take with you to the gym (with the armband, of course) or on the road with you (be sure to get the Satechi FM transmitter which is absolutely essential, in my view).
Just because it isn't an iPod doesn't mean it's sub-par. In fact, the iPod is all hype and overpriced. The Sansa e250 is the perfect mp3 player loaded with the essentials, including a microSD expansion slot (not microsdHC).
I really have no major complaints, but nothing is created without minor imperfections. The loading time for creating a music library on the player once you have a memory card plugged in can get a little long (maybe up to 30 seconds depending on how much you've filled it). There is a firmware upgrade which seems to help with that issue, however. Also, don't expect to be playing full-length movies on this little player, as it won't handle that. It seems to be more comfortable playing smaller video files.
If you're having connectivity issues, try switching the USB mode from MSC to MTP (or vice versa). And if you're trying to transfer playlists from Windows Media Player, be sure it's in MTP mode, and just sync your playlist to the Sansa e250. It's that easy.
Pair this up with a Satechi FM transmitter made specifically for Sansa media players and you've got a media library in your car that will satiate your music cravings.
Digital camera Review: Almost good, but not quite Summary: 3 Stars
[...].
The player is reasonably small - smaller than an iPod nano, but not as small as other mp3 players. The screen is pretty good, and easy to read. The battery is easy to replace. All pluses.
The downsides....the 'click wheel' feels very cheap, and liable to break at any moment. The other problem, getting the player configured with rhapsody.com. After 4 hours of trying I gave up and took the player back to the shop. I bought a Creative Zen vplus instead. A MUCH better buy. Its smaller, far more robust, and connected to rhapsody on the first attempt.
Bottom line, the Sansa e250 is ok, but there are much better players out there for the same price.
