Digital camera reviews of SanDisk Sansa m240 1 GB MP3 Player (Silver)Digital camera Review: An outstanding MP3 player for what you pay!! Summary: 4 Stars
I have to say, I don't usually write reviews for anything online, but I'm so pleased with this MP3 player, I just had to. First of all, the ease of use is amazing! You can get this player hook it up, and put around 300 songs on it, in about 8 minutes. From there, it automatically sorts by artist, album, etc. The sound is great, the display is just good enough, and the compatibility of the entire package is just great. They give you the first battery which give you 19 hrs of life!!! Very simple controls, and armband (included)!! Just having this simple little device has made me wake up with a smile!! Not to mention the FM option is nice to have, and it picks up both the strongest and weakest of stations. If you have to buy something quickly, cheaply, and want longer usage, look no further than the SanDisk Sansa M240...it's worth it, trust me!!
Digital camera Review: Annoying, but okay Summary: 3 Stars
First, let me say that I just received this product and have been using it for only a few hours. It plays songs and podcasts just fine, the volume is good, and the player functions fine. I like the screen and the easy-to-use menus. I bought the m240 because I won't use it much, I'm going on a trip to Europe and I don't want to have to buy a converter just to charge it, and I didn't want to spend $200 to get an equivalent iPod. For what I'm going to use it for, I think the m240 was a good buy.
Now for the down side. The product info says that the m240 will only work with XP. This isn't true. In fact, I still can't get it to work on my XP (SP2) laptop. I plug it in, it "rebuilds the library," then shuts off, and won't power back on. It turns on fine when not connected to the computer, but it won't work at all when connected--and yes, I do have the latest firmware update. On top of that, the product comes with an "Easy Start CD"--HAH! It won't run on my Windows 2000 desktop at all (which I expected, given that the product info says XP only), but when I put it in my XP laptop, it says I need the newer version of the CD (I just bought the thing!) and asks if I would like to be taken to the web page to get it. I click yes, and it takes me to--the Windows Media download page! I'm already using the newest WM player, and why a Sandisk product would send me to a Microsoft site for updates to its software is beyond me. Needless to say, I've given up trying to use it on my XP laptop.
Right now, I have it attached to my 2000 desktop, transferring files through Windows Explorer, and it's working fine. Go figure.
So this is a good little player, when you can actually get files on it. I really think the people at SanDisk need to get their act together and make sure their products actually work like they're supposed to.
Digital camera Review: Another Freeze Up Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased two of these as Christmas presents for my kids. Just like numerous other reviews, one froze up on the sansa screen after a couple days. Amazon exchanged it without hassle and the replacement froze up with the same problem within hours. There are definitely issues with this player and I would not buy it. I am going to return both and purchase a different player.
Digital camera Review: Another Lemon... Summary: 1 Stars
Ill echo what others have said; when it works this is a pretty good basic MP3 player. However, like others our unit froze after just a couple of days use. It gets as far as the logo screen but no farther. At that point none of the controls respond (except the power button) and the computer does not recognize it as a device. Disappointing given all of the good reviews.
--- 12/8/2007 UPDATE ---
We returned the unit and got another one. This unit also locked up after a few weeks. However, in looking for information online I found that there was a newer firmware version that was supposed to resolve the problem. Unfortunately I was unable to load the new firmware because the unit was locked up. I returned it to Sandisk under warranty (a fairly painless process). I dont recall if the replacement came with the new firmware or I applied it immediately. Either way, it has been about 9 months with no more problems. Id now give this a 4 star rating.
Digital camera Review: Another one bites the dust Summary: 1 Stars
I bought three of these; one is frozen like all the other ones you will read about, another has come close to freezing up, and another one hasn't had a problem. My problems started when I used the voice recording feature. On the one that came close to freezing up, I haven't had any problems since I've stopped using the voice recording feature. We'll see what Sandisk does about replacing my useless one. Don't risk buying one now, there are definite problems.
