Digital camera Review: An Mp3 Player For Everyone Summary: 5 Stars
The SanDisk (which you may recognize from their excellent line of flash-drives) Sansa m240 1-gig silver mp3 player is a great buy for those into electronics. While it can't hold as much music as many iPods, it's still good if your tired of burning CDs. It's also unique for having a stopwatch and microphone feature. In addition, it doesn't require iTunes in order to upload music, which is a surprisingly useful feature; This means no long sync times, no advertisements, and no need to install new software (not to mention, you DON'T lose information when you hook it up to a different computer, unlike the iPod). This means that the m240 is much more user friendly.
Digital camera Review: An OK MP3 player Summary: 3 Stars
The player is OK. It uses up a lot of memory so you can't use AAA rechargeable batteries, or else you have to them keep constantly recharged. There isn't that much memory, so if you put a couple of albums on there, it uses most of it up. I tend to use it for the FM radio, which works well in a metropolitan area with stations close to me. The sound quality is good. I got it because my iRiver got water damaged (my own fault - duh!!) and I wanted a cheaper replacement. It comes with the arm strap, so I can avoid the water damage like I had with the device. I don't regret getting it, but I wouldn't recommend it if you want a high-end player.
Digital camera Review: An excellent player for not many bucks Summary: 5 Stars
Had this player nearly a week and I'm very pleased with it. Initially I thought the sound was a bit 'tinny' and none of the preset equalizer settings made much difference. I played around with the custom settings and found that if I boosted the bass channels, lowered the middle channel and upped the treble channels a bit the music sounded much fuller. I listen to mostly indie type stuff but I think more base and less middle would suit nmost type of rock music with this player. Secondly, it's true that the user guide that comes with it is mostly useless but if you go to the SanDisk website, select mp3 players, m200 series, there is a little box that appears labelled 'Additional Product Info'. In that box you can get a 37 page user guide in pdf format. It pretty much explains everything you need to know about the player. The SanDisk m240 may not be the prettiest player out there but for a 'no fuss', quality player, this can't be beat.
Digital camera Review: An inexpensive and capable sports MP3 player Summary: 4 Stars
Although not typically marketed as a sports player, the SanDisk Sansa M240 fills that niche quite well and is inexpensive enough to replace in case accidentally damaged during an aggressive workout.
The player is very small, light, easy to operate, and includes a plastic cover and arm band (neither of which is bullet-proof but function well). The cover is not water proof but will prevent perspiration from seaping into the player. I suggest leaving the cover on at all times- it's a tight fit and removing and replacing it regularly risks tearing it.
I'd also suggest splurging on a good set of sports headphones rather than relying on the included buds.
