Digital camera reviews of SanDisk Sansa m250 2 GB MP3 Player (Black)Digital camera Review: An excellent mp3 player Summary: 4 Stars
Well...the 10 dollar, 512 mp3 player i bought just died. I discovered that i actually listen to music a lot on the go.
I chose this one because I wanted more space (2GB), something that ran on rechargeable AAA batteries, and something that was a little bit more quality construction-wise than my last.
GOOD THINGS:
-NO noticeable system noise (using shure E2C headphones)
-Easy "playlist" selection. select play by album or by artist or play all. I haven't experimented with true playlist support because i don't use playlists
-drag and drop file transfer and i think it supports the sync thing with WMP 11....but who uses WMP these days...
-Decent clickability of buttons. Other reviews are right, it feels flimsy, but its not going to break.
-the cheap plastic case does its job, but not with style. I don't care how it looks though because its in my pocket all the time.
-recordings sound good.
-good menu structure.
BAD THINGS:
-no USB attachment except via the provided cord.
-the screen is a bit harder to read than my last mp3 player
-expensive compared to those cheapy models that i like to buy 8)
Digital camera Review: An unfortunate big disappointment Summary: 2 Stars
It's a marvellous little player; when it actually works. The problem is, I had three of these stop working when they got stuck on the Sansa opening screen or the Initialising process. The first time it happened within the first day, the two other times it took about a month for the player to crash and get stuck in this deadly loop that makes it so that the computer won't recognize the player anymore because it can't communicate with it.
The store was kind enough to exchange the product twice and now I will ask for a store credit. Read a lot of reviews and user opinion forums about your different options before buying a player; it will be time well spent.
Edit: I got yet another replacement a few months ago with a more recent firmware and it's been working fine ever since. The player freezes sometimes, but it is solved with a few reboots. The new firmware adds features that was lacking, like playing an album in the numerical order that is programmed in the ID3 tags. Four stars ****.
Digital camera Review: Average device Summary: 3 Stars
I have two complaints. First, after synchronizing with Windows Media Player and disconnecting from the computer it says it is rebuilding its library. Once it is done the new files are not showning up in the library. After plugging it back in I view the files on the device through Windows Media Player and it shows the new files there. I have had to remove all the files and upload everything again.
I have an Ipod but I bought this device so I could download and listen to audiobooks from my local library. The downloaded audiobook is just one huge file. My second complaint is the device can only play that file from the beginning. If I stop the playback, which I have to do because I am not going to listen to a 10 hour+ audiobook in one sitting, then I can't continue from where I left off. I have to start over.
I do like this device for basic music and audiobooks from CD. I have even used the FM radio and found it acceptable.
Digital camera Review: Avoid the Sansa M250 Summary: 1 Stars
At first I thought this player was great. Easy to use, and it had the built in FM tuner. Then, with less than one day of use, it locked up. It would not "boot" or start back up. After some research on this problem, I found that others were having it too, and it seems it can happen at any time. While the Sandisk technical support was responsive, their help was useless. I'm glad my player locked up on the first day so I could return the defective product for a refund and purchase another brand of player that is superior in quality. Don't let the great price of the Sansa fool you. You get what you pay for!
Digital camera Review: Avoid this product Summary: 1 Stars
The first I purchased didn't have the necessary software on it so we were unable to load anything onto it. So I sent it back.
Amazon was very fast with the replacement. Unfortunately, the second was just as flawed as the first. We were (supposedly) able to load 100 songs on it. However, it would only play one group of eight songs. When I tried to delete the songs via my computer, the songs didn't show up.
Exasperated, we sent the second one back and purchased an 8 GB MP3 player from Creative Labs instead. It worked just fine, so we purchased a second, which is also working well (the touchpad is VERY sensitive, though.)
