I have owed a lot of players over the years. I get asked a lot about DAP's before people make a purchase. I purchase my first clip about 18 mos. ago.
Last month a store had them on sale for $49 USD. So I went out and got two. I told everyone about it. After a month. Everyone unsolicited; thanked me for the recommendation. Some have even bought two or more because they liked it soo much.
What do they like it:
The price was right,
The size. Especially those that are in the Trades. You can be discrete. I like it for football/basketball games using the Radio.
The ease of use (adding songs via drag and drop, making playlist on the fly and the ease of making playlist)
The FM radio for jogging and bike rides. Especially with the weather starts to change on a long ride. i.e. Tornados. They come out of nowhere in these parts.
The comfort and having a clip.
I work in the trades and my clip is exposed to a rugged enviroment and I have had no issues with my Clip.
I love the sound it is as good as a Sony as far as sound goes and I even think via comparisons with my other players that this is better than my 2GB and my Sony's, for real!!!! It is as easy to use as my Sony NWZ-series players.
I can even record memos, conversations, and some have even left in the room when they have left to hear what others has said about them. I don't recommend it unless you have thick skin. I don't so I don't do it.
I have recorded newsworthy events for future reference from the FM radio though.
8GB is a good size for me. You can put a lot of songs on it. I don't recommend taking you whole collection with you. I couldn't even if I want to anyway. It is too much to manage and navigate. Even at 192 kbs I find that it is too much on the player. In short there is plenty of room for music for most people.
To finish I have not heard one person yet say a bad thing about the clip yet. Though it has been only a month for most of them. iPods had good sound but the Sansa Clip has great sound and a heck of a lot less money.
