It's a clock radio and does everything a modern clock radio should do, including accurately set its own time and have a digital tuner. It's hard to get excited about a clock radio at this level. If you need to get excited, look into its big brothers, the Sangean RS-330 Digital AM/FM Clock Radio and its companion, the Sangean RS-332 Powered Speaker for RS-330 Clock Radio. They're a clock radio system to get excited about - until they stop working. I went through three (including one that was DOA out of the box) before I gave up. The Sangean RCR-22 AM/FM Atomic Clock Radio will not receive the time signal from the radio transmitter in Colorado. I followed the directions carefully, several times, and for several days, with no success.
I looked at the Sangean RCR-22 AM/FM Atomic Clock Radio discussions, for advice. I found that I seem to be doing everything correctly, but the atomic clock will not work. I own three other battery powered atomic clocks, and they all work fine. I wanted this feature on my clock radio, but this unit is a failure.
The other functions of the Sangean RCR-22 AM/FM Atomic Clock Radio are fine, if complicated. The reception is very good. Setting the time and the alarms are not too bad if I follow the instructions carefully. The sound quality is OK, too. In fact the Sangean RCR-22 AM/FM Atomic Clock Radio only seems mediocre when I compare it to the great radio that it replaces.
I have used a beautiful Panasonic clock radio for the past twenty years, and it had been excellent. The Panasonic was intuitive, convenient with great sound quality. I never opened the instructions, because all settings were fast and easy. However, I need to replace my old Panasonic as it will no longer hold a station. I get too much drift, to much noise as I move about the room, or even roll over in bed.
The Sangean holds frequency, and works fine, even if it is complicated. But no atomic clock. I feel cheated, disappointed.

This atomic alarm clock radio is better than I thought it would be and then some. It is easy to set up and operate. I receved this just before we had to turn the clocks back (November 08) and I did not have to do a thing. It sounds great and it's the best alarm clock I've ever owned.
