Digital camera reviews of Seagate Barracuda 500 GB 7200RPM SATA NCQ 16 MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Desktop Hard Drive ST3500641AS-RK-Retail Kit

Digital camera Review: Excelent product
Summary: 5 Stars

I found everything that was needed to install this second SATA drive in my new PC. The drive came with all the cables that were needed as well as the software to enable it. The instructions were good and helped me with the installation. I recomend this product to any person wanting to add an additional drive to their PC.

Digital camera Review: Excellent Choice for Home Desktop Expansion
Summary: 4 Stars

I have had nothing but good luck with these Seagate SATA drives. This is just the right size for incremental home desktop expansion. Hard drives do fail eventually; that goes with the territory. Having multiple drives around this size (and doing reliable backups), reduces the risk that you might loose everything at the most inopportune time. Those 1.5TByte drives might look like a bargain at first, but wait until you have to restore "your life" (assuming you did religious backups.) You can also use these internal drives to keep copies of critical files as an alternative to weekly backups; however, what we eventually resort to is using this added space as a primary storage anyway and fail to backup anything. So go with the distributed concept and always do backups.

Digital camera Review: Excellent HD for an awesome price
Summary: 5 Stars

After my WD My Book crashed with all my major files, I wanted to get a good harddrive that was reliable, fast, large capacity, quiet, and did I say reliable? I read many reviews on this Seagate 500GB Barracuda model, and decided to go with it. After getting 2 duds (OEM HD's) from another "eggcelent" online store, I basically gave up on it. I tried a 3rd time, and got it from here... and could not be happier with my choice. For the extra $10, I got a brand new, sealed haddrive with the full 5 year warranty. The harddrive itself is excellent and quite small. The SATA is super fast compared to ATA. Not only does it transfer my files in a flash, but the noise is whisper quiet. I read some reviews that this particular model is quite noisy when it writes, but I think those are just bad models, because mine is barely noticeable even when I'm transferring Gigs worth of data. I partitioned my drive in 2 parts, and have not had any problems with it thus far. If you're looking for a large storage HD with a small price, I highly recommend you go with this one.

I haven't shopped much on Amazon before, but I was blown away by their service. Free super saving, which stated it would arrive in 9-15 days or something, delivered to my door in 2! I am very satisfied with the product and the service.

PS. I don't work for Amazon nor am I trying to suck up to them... I was just really impressed with their speedy service.

Digital camera Review: Good Drive
Summary: 5 Stars

This drive does essentially what you need it to. The installation was easy and the software included kind of makes it easier. This is about my fifth hard drive in my current PC and so far no problems. Price wise it may be better to go with a terabyte instead since programs are getting bigger and bigger. I have almost filled this one up with back ups of current things I have and I find myself wishing I had the larger drive instead. I have had it for about six or seven months now and no problems. I have read a lot of reviews and some were bad and I have really gathered that hard drives are good or not they will fail or not. I have never had a hard drive fail yet so I know my chances are getting better for it to happen. So far no problems with this drive and if it does occur I will update this. Overall give it a buy since the price is very nice but like I said a terabyte is nicer.

Digital camera Review: Good Drive, Amazon's description & photo are outdated
Summary: 5 Stars

Regarding the 500 GB drive and all in the Barracuda Series: These are a pretty standard drive, that has been used for years. Not blazing fast, not too slow.

The AMAZON descriptions and MAIN PHOTO are way out of date, about 2-3 versions old.

The 2010 current carton is the Brown/Black/Orange striped carton
The 2010 current version is 7200.12, NOT 7200.9 as stated.
