Haven't gotten to try it out on a run yet, but playing with it out of the box, it has a nice set of rhythms for different types of runs, it has good volume control (again, haven't tried it outside or with the treadmill running, but I think it will be fine). I use this metronome for run training, not for music. There are other sport metronomes out there, but the batteries for those are not changeable and they cost more. The only complain I have is the metronome is not water resistant, but of course it wasn't designed to be in the first place. This is my second Seiko metronome, I think the first succombed to moisture. Seiko should consider making a sports metronome, smaller, water resistant, and with changeable batteries, but keep the price low like it is now.Digital camera Review: Metronome for non-musical use

I bought this metronome for athletic training, specifically running. The device is easy to use and clips on clothing or brim of a hat. The volume has five settings and unless you are in traffic, the lowest setting is sufficient. The metronome gives you immediate feedback on each stride or movement cycle and allows you to set and know your pace in advance and change your pace troughout a training run. This is an excellent training aid at a minimual cost.
