Digital camera reviews of Sennheiser BW 900 Lightweight Wireless Bluetooth Headset for Phone/Mobile

Digital camera Review: Great for voice recognition
Summary: 5 Stars

I've used a number of microphones with Dragon 9. This one is the best. It's comfortable and tremendously accurate. You will need to buy an adapter to connect it to the computer (unless you use Bluetooth, which I do not). Check out the zoomswitch, which works great. Also, make sure to start a new profile. Don't just start using this with your old profile.

The first unit Amazon shipped me was defective: it had a loose connection to the microphone. But Amazon customer service shipped me a replacement overnight -- best customer service I've had in a long time -- and the replacement works great.

Digital camera Review: Great product
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought the headset to use with voice recognition software as well as the telephone. In order to switch between the computer and the telephone was necessary to buy a Zoom switch because headset would not automatically pair with the Bluetooth connected to the computer. I spoke directly with customer support at Sennheiser who told me that they did not recommend trying to use the microphone with a Bluetooth wireless. Once I work out those issues, the product has been working extraordinarily well. In fact, this review is being dictated using the headset.

I have used Dragon voice for more than 10 years with a variety of microphones, and this is the best by far. The microphone is comfortable, the accuracy is excellent and it is very unobtrusive. I also used the headset that of the instead of the handset to speak on the phone. This connection was excellent, and again the product works very well.

I would buy this product again, but I would have definitely paired with the Zoom switch for the initial purchase.

Digital camera Review: Incompatible with Droid!
Summary: 1 Stars

This did seem like a great unit, so I did purchase one, and paid overnight shipping.
After spending an hour trying to get it to pair with my Droid, I called technical support to have them tell me they aren't compatible!
If I had known this ahead of time, I would have not lost $[...] in overnight shipping!
Very disappointing.

Digital camera Review: Must Have
Summary: 5 Stars

I work in a loud office and this headset can't be beat. The noise cancelling technology is second to none and it has great sound quality. The extra battery is a must have since the charge only lasts about 4 hours per battery.

Digital camera Review: Nice design, nice dock, spotty performance
Summary: 2 Stars

Thinking myself clever, I replaced my desk phone with a cordless bluetooth setup (Siemens SL785 and SL78H) so that I could share a bluetooth headset with my BB Bold and rid myself of some wires. The BW900 had good reviews for long-wear comfort and audio quality, and I have a Sennheiser HMD 45-6 I really love, so the BW900 figured large in my plan. Well, I was sorely disappointed.

The Siemens SL785 is great. Very clean audio, easy interface, feels and looks good. However, the BW900 doesn't play nice with it, at least for me. I thought it must be the Siemens, but then I got the same scratchy audio with my Bold and also my old Nokia N80. I started suspecting bluetooth in general since this was my first go.

I sent it back, which is sad because I did love the dock. I replaced it with a Plantronics Voyager Pro, just to see if my master plan really was madness. Well, I got the Plantronics a few days ago and... it rocks! It's easy to put on with its flexible rubbery ear loop. One of the reasons I went with the BW900 the first time was the not-in-the-ear speaker. That was nice. However, I'm finding the Plantronics easier to get onto and off of my ear, and since I'm not on the phone all day, the earbud doesn't have time to bother me. It's actually comfortable.

The BW900 is b-i-g BIG. Surprisingly, it does rest well on the ear. I like Sennheiser, and I would expect 2.0 to be improved.
