Digital camera reviews of Sennheiser CX300-B In-Ear Stereo Headphone

Digital camera Review: A High End Audio Lover's Opinion
Summary: 5 Stars

As an appriciator of high end sound in general (I own HD 595, PX 100, AKG K26p, and other headphones/earphones including these), I consistently do research and look for new headphones to listen to. I must say that these are quite the earphone value! I find that for around $80 (depending on where it's purchased from), these sound quite good. The highs are a bit laid back and the midrange is pretty good as well. The bass is great depending on which earpieces are used, insertion technique, and type of music being listened to. This creates a fairly clear and powerful sound. The only real complaints that I have are minor issues in my opinion: the asymmetrical cord, they are a bit delicate (so be careful), and they don't come any type of carrying case or pouch. Overall, for the price, these are pretty darn good! If you're looking for some really high end sound, check out the various high end models from: Shure, Etymotic, Ultimate Ears, and even V-Moda; these are all great earphones and far outperform the junk that comes with most CD and Mp3 players!

Digital camera Review: A Sharp Contrast to iPod Earbuds!
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought these as a replacement to the generic Apple Earbuds, which, by the way, are awful and should be immediately replaced by these if you are using them currently.

As an affordable replacement to the Apple Earbuds, they are top notch. The physical noise cancelling works wonderfully due to a nigh hermetic seal between your ears and the outside world. Sound is a contrast as well, although I feel like the Apple Earbuds would sound great if you had the audacity to press them into your ears whenever you were to wear them.

Am I impressed with the sound? No, I'm not, but this is probably because I do my sedentary listening with a pair of Grado SR60's, which absolutely blow these Sennheisers out of the water in all fields of sound. This, however, is besides the point. I find the sound of the Sennheisers to be a bit muddy, and simply not as precise as other high end headphones. Then again, these aren't high end headphones. They cost twenty dollars, and for twenty dollars, I am very satisfied.

Pros: In ear design provides awesome physical noise cancelling. You can barely hear people talking right next to you.

Good sound, but not amazing or good enough to make me wonder why I bought my Grados. (Yes, I did burn them in)

HUGE step up from Apple Earbuds.

Cons: Not the best sound, but pretty damn good for twenty dollars.

Perhaps construction? I see no need to worry though, as it seems fairly solid. This is my second day owning them though.

Bottom Line: Highly recommended if you are looking for an affordable step up from Apple Earbuds (which are awful, to hammer that point in). Wonderful physical noise cancelling, making them ideal for train or plane commute.

I would have given them 3.8 stars if possible.

Yes, you should buy them.

Digital camera Review: A Waste of Money
Summary: 2 Stars

I had a pair of Sennheiser behind the head sport headphones which had very good sound and thought that these would be comparable. Unfortunately I was surprised to find out that this was not the case. These earbuds are all treble with almost no discernible bass. The highs themselves are pretty good and the sound is clear, but it's totally thin and harsh with no bottom to it. I can't believe I am reading people say how they like the bass. What bass? There are some reviewers here however who had the same reaction I did. I would take the stock iPod ear buds over these. That's how bad they are. I know Sennheiser has such a good reputation, but this is not the first time I find them to have too much treble. I also have a pair of HD 280 pro headphones, and while they are much better than these I never liked them too much, because I find them a bit too harsh and bright. The Sennheiser sport headphones however were surprisingly good so I'm 1 for 3 with Sennheiser. I know a lot of people dislike Bose, but if you want good bass get the Bose in ear headphones which I found to have a very rich and satisfying sound, although they have almost no sound isolation. They are way better than the CX300's.

Digital camera Review: A best buy-- no wonder the price went up
Summary: 5 Stars

So these used to cost about 30 dollars? Now they're around 55 bucks. No matter, they're worth it and then some.
I can turn off the EQ setting on my iPod now. The 300s seem made to enhance and enrich mp3s and WAVs. The only downside is that if you have garbage recordings, they'll sound harsher and nastier. Garbage in, garbage out.
These buds need less wattage to crank, which saves iPod battery life and reduces distortion. At the same time, the airy highs and satisfying bass (make sure you have the right size and style of earpads) allow monitoring at moderate levels with a sense of punch and detail normally found only when you crank other phones way up. I still value my hearing, so these are all great attributes to me.

I have Shure EC3's which I bought for iPod use and onstage monitoring. I also own the EC2's, and several other studio and home headphones. These little buds are at least as high quality as the rest, at a fraction of the price.

Digital camera Review: A good product
Summary: 4 Stars

Sound is really good and the phones fit well in the ears. My wife who normally connot use ear buds loves them, a first.
