Digital camera reviews of Sennheiser HD515 Dynamic Stereo Sound Audiophile 500 Series HeadphonesDigital camera Review: Great looks and sound for the money. Summary: 5 Stars
Just received my headphones from Amazon and I love them. They are very comfortable and sound great. They seem to be very well constructed and the long cord is great.
Digital camera Review: Great phones, great price. Summary: 5 Stars
I am not an Audiophile, but I do have a good ear. I am very musical and play a few brass instruments and I know what I like.
Pros:
The sound is full and I think it is pretty consistent throughout the lows, mids and highs. I know lots of people complain about the midrange but it really fits my taste in sound I guess. I did notice that it tends to be slightly heavy on bass but that is fine with me. I think bass is under represented in music and I should know playing several bass, brass instruments.
Very comfortable and they seem to be fairly sturdy for a cheaper pair of headphones. I had a pair of Skullcandy Hesh headphones ($50) that felt like they were made out of recycled plastic bottles and I can say these do not feel like that at all. Those Skullcandy Cans sounded bad and broke quickly. The Senn 515 is nice and flexible without feeling cheap.
I tend to be a bit of a classic rock listener and I really like heavier bands like System of a Down and Static X and these along with other rock songs sound very nice but only if you have a good quality song.
Most onboard sound cards happily drive these phones but I am buying an amp just to give them a little more kick.
Cons:
You will realize your 128bit songs just don't cut it. These phones allow you to hear everything, including the problems with over compressed songs. Nothing less than a 192bit or a 256 bit song is recommended.
Can sound slightly boring at times, not bad just some song don't "pop" like I remember, I hope I can solve this with a budget amp but it might just be that my personal tastes are just changing.
Not portable, but seriously who cares. These aren't for being tossed around your backpack all day.
Overall these are great headphones and I think the 555's look nice but I just couldn't justify spending twice as much on the 555's. At that point I would just save up for the 595's and get it over with. I am not a Sennheiser fanboy, I just really like this model.
Edit: After about 50 hours and and the Xonar 5.1 sound card with built in amp these headphones really woke up. Everything is better, everything. I ended up giving a the headphone the >64ohms amp boost to them and I could not be happier. Best budget Sound Card/Headphone Combo.
Digital camera Review: Great product, amazing sound Summary: 4 Stars
This is a great headphone for music lover, very good product for long hour of music without hurting your ears. I would recommend to anyone looking for great headphone at decent price.
Digital camera Review: Great sound Summary: 5 Stars
Big and nerdy, but you can't beat the sound quality..but I guess that you have to expect big for an over the ear headphone.
Digital camera Review: Great sound and comfort with some flaws. Summary: 4 Stars
Pros:
-Excellent sound
-Comfortable to wear for hours at a time.
Cons:
-Cord is too long. Easily tangled or snagged on other objects, risking damage to the cord or plug.
-"replaceable" cord would be an attractive feature if replacement cords were actually available (and reasonably priced).
