Digital camera reviews of Sennheiser PC 350 Collapsible Gaming Headset with Vol Control & Microphone MuteDigital camera Review: Excellent Sound, Excellent Comfort, Excellent Mic Summary: 5 Stars
Pros: This headset is durable, has the best sound quality of all the headsets I've owned (about 10) by far, has gread comfort on the head because it circumvents the entire ear, and everyone on vent says my mic sounds increadibly clear.
Cons: The price. It is an expensive headset to be sure.
Thoughts: It is definitly worth the price in my estimation, the headset feels and sounds like a $150 headset. You get what you pay for, in a good way.
Digital camera Review: Excellent comfort and construction, Great sound Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned this headset for over a year now and I am thoroughly impressed. I can wear them all day and not even know they're on my head. They have just the right amount of holding pressure for me. Sound quality is very good. They do not have a flat response. They seem to have a bit of a boost around the 2k range, probably for voice intelligibility. The bass response is very good but not room shaking. Overall they have a well balanced sound and excellent directionality that is perfect for gaming. My AKG K240s are better for music and more accurate (though lacking in bass extension) but for games the Sennheisers rule. The microphone is good. I never get complaints that people can't understand me. It does pick up quite a bit of ambient noise. People can hear the TV in the background if it's turned up loud enough. A noise cancelling feature would be nice. I power these cans with a Behringer UB802 mixer which provides plenty of power but they are pretty efficient. My laptop can also drive them quite well but not as loud.
Overall these cans get a big thumbs up from me. They are holding up very well. After a year they still look and feel like new.
Digital camera Review: Excellent headphones Summary: 5 Stars
Pros: These are by far the best gaming headphones I have ever used. They blow my old Razer Barracudas out of the water. For headphones they have excellent bass, They're comfortable to wear for extended periods of time, and fit completely over my ears. The positional/directional sound is very well done (and I'm pretty sure my K/Ds have gone up since I can now tell where people are in relation to me by the sound of their walking/gunfire.) They also preform very well in movies, with a high range of available sounds.
Cons: A bit expensive.
Other Thoughts: These sound great, even through the standard Realtek audio on an AsusP6T Motherboard. They're not USB.
Digital camera Review: Extremely good headset. Summary: 4 Stars
For the price the gripes I have are moderate, nothing terrible. Sound quality is excellent, beyond excellent. I have a very nice speaker system, and had a Creative Fatal1ty Professional headset prior to this one, and the sounds from this is superior to either. The mic quality is also very very good. Only pitfalls: positioning the unit on my head took some tweaking to get -just right-, the wires seem too flimsy for my liking, and the in line volume control doesn't lower volume to the point of muting the headset. Considering these complaints, this will probably be my headset of choice for a while. Comfort is very good as well, and coming from a person with a big head, that's essential. Great buy.
Digital camera Review: Fantastic Summary: 4 Stars
Since "weak bass" was one of the consistent comments keeping me from getting these right away, I'd like to add to what a few have already mentioned. They require a decent soundcard or amp to really make them perform to their potential. Also, and this is nearly as important in regards to the bass output, placement of the ear cups over your ears matters a lot. Until I got them positioned just right, they sounded very hollow. So if they sound thin, definitely fiddle with them until you find what's right for your head. Luckily, they're still super-comfortable after finding the sweet spot.
All that said, these are fantastic. Definitely the best PC headset I've used, and I've used a lot. Many returns and exchanges have taken place before I found a pair I liked in nearly every way. They're not perfect, audiophile grade, music-listening headphones, but they still do a great job for both games and music. For a gaming headset, the sound quality is certainly way way above average.
The volume control is a bit lower on the cord than I'd like, but I rarely mess with that anyway. I grew accustomed to velour ear pads from previous Sennheiser phones I've owned, but the fake leather cups on these are still very comfortable. The beefy cord is much appreciated, as Sennheisers often have very puny ones. The mic sounds as good as any sets I've owned, but doesn't offer a ton of adjustment options. I was afraid that being so far away from my mouth would introduce more background noise, but there is surprisingly little.
All in all, these are highly recommended for someone looking for a gaming headset that doesn't skimp on sound quality. If you're not wincing at the price tag, these are probably what you're looking for.
