Digital camera reviews of Sennheiser PX 100 Lightweight Collapsible HeadphonesDigital camera Review: A TRUE BARGAIN Summary: 5 Stars
these sennheiser px 100 headphones are the best 'bang for the buck' product i've ever purchased. anybody who rates these headphones under 5 stars either has a faulty set of phones,
a terrible source unit, or bad hearing.
right out of the box these beauties sounded fab, with great bass, wonderful highs, and liquid midrange.
if i had received these as a gift and was later told they cost
$200.00, i would not have been surprised.
as for comfort, i walk about ninety minutes each day and i can hardly feel these on my head.
this is a no brainer, if you can get these headphones for under
$50.00, it'll be one of the best bargains you ever made. actually,it doesn't matter what you pay; this is a great
headphone!
based on a cost vs performance rating, i would easily give this product 10 stars.
03/16/10 update:
i've had these beauties now going on 4 years; they still work and sound fantastic.
one thing i never did with these headphones was put them in the carrying case; maybe the constant folding and other maneuvers one does to get them to fit in the case shortens their life. i don't know.
what i do know is i paid @$40.00 for these and it's still the best bang for the buck i've ever done.
Digital camera Review: A Very Good Value... Summary: 5 Stars
I think these phones are hard to beat for the money. I have many different types of headphones, from several in-the-ear types to a set of Bose QC2's. These are great for listening to music at work because I can still hear the phone ring, and they are comfortable -- nothing jammed into my ears. They have a very pleasing sound, from solid bass to a nice, clear mid- to high-end. I have paid much more for this sound quality on other phones, so 50 bucks is a no-brainer.
Putting them in their case is actually kind of entertaining in a weird sort of way, since it's almost like putting a kid's puzzle together -- not difficult to figure out, and oddly satisfying once you get it all together.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these to anyone. I even bought some for my kids so they could stop using the ones that came with their iPods.
Digital camera Review: A big Thumbs UP! Summary: 5 Stars
I was planning on getting in-ear phones because the bass response is generally more satisfying than with on-the-ear headphones. But, the ear buds can be too isolating when you are outdoors. I read the other reviews of these Sennheiser PX 100's and decided to give them a try. They are everything I need. The sound quality is top rate and the bass is great and I can still sense other things around me which is useful when rollerblading or bike riding.
Digital camera Review: A couple days in... Summary: 5 Stars
We really don't need any more reviews for these wonderful phones (but what the heck!). I feel pretty strongly about these just a few days in. I use them mostly with my laptop (generic sound card) and with my Creative Zen Touch. I am also looking forward to plugging them into my Creative Audigy card on my desktop, just have not had the opportunity. The reviews are correct. Unbelievable sound reproduction: bass, treble, mid it's all there. I find that the diverse music I listen to sounds good and with the creative buds, for example, I always found myself futzing with EQ settings to get the best sound (a HUGE benefit, IMHO). Good bye earbuds hello comfy headphones!!!! BTW, I found the folding easy to accomplish. Perfect! Enjoy...
Digital camera Review: A good balance between price and performance Summary: 4 Stars
Over the years I've owned a lot of bad cheap headphones so I think that I'm about as much an authority as anyone on bad sound. So I can say without a doubt that the Sennheisser PX-100 headphones don't sound bad at all. Frankly I think that they sound great, they beat out by a mile the pair of earbuds that came with my mp3 player and I would even say that stuff sounds better with them than my Yamaha surround sound setup.
Audio quality aside all is not perfect. Frankly I find them uncomfortable to wear for extended periods of time since they basically clamp down on the sides of your head. That of course means that they fit a bit more securely than any other open eared phones I've used before when worn normally, however they still fall off pretty easily if you tilt your head forward or backwards too much when upright. I find that they sit pretty securely if you have them kind of diagonally on the back of your head but then the phones aren't positioned properly and they don't sound as good. So with that said, I'm not sure that I can really say they're that good for the likes of jogging although they work fine on an exercise bike or just chilling out with your mp3 player or discman (which is what I like to do to relax before going to sleep).
I've also got mixed feelings about the way they fold up. While it is nice to be able to fit them into my pocket along with my mp3 player when I want to take them off when out and about, I always seem to have trouble getting them to fold up just right. I mean, in the first place you have to have them pushed to their shortest length to get the depressions to meet up so they're secure (I never carry around that stupid "rugged looking" case) and I have a big head (my mother had to have a cesarean because my head was so big they couldn't pull me out of her the normal way) so I always have them pulled out a bit.
As a side note the only thing I can say about the audio quality from my observations is that you need to have the volume on say 3-6 depending on the scale you're working with (my mp3 player goes to 40, my discman to about 20) to really bring out the full potential of the headphones since they sound a bit funky to me at the lowest volume settings. Although as I understand it I'm one of the few people out there who can actually hear things when they're set at their lowest volume so I doubt that will be an issue for most people.
Well when all is said and done these are a good choice if you're like me and you want to finally get a pair of phones that sounds good so you can actually enjoy what you're listening to, but you don't want to (or can't) drop a lot of cheddar to do so. If you do have the money for higher end stuff though, I don't really see any special reason to get these so go ahead and look elsewhere.
