Digital camera reviews of Sennheiser RS 130 Wireless Surround Sound HeadphonesDigital camera Review: AWESOME Summary: 5 Stars
Got this for husband so he could watch TV and I could relax or sleep (he watches tv too loud for my liking). Totally LOVE this item, it is the best investment I have made.
Digital camera Review: About the best you'll find in FM wireless headphones Summary: 5 Stars
I work nights and watch TV all night on days off. I've used Recotron and Panasonics a few years ago- both had too much noise and crackle. I was hesitant to buy wireless again but saw the 130s- refurb on amazon for under 70 bucks and had to try them. When first tried them they were noisy and crackling like I remebered BUT then I tried a few channel combos and found a very nice and quiet one. They sound great and are almost silent (noise free) when watching TV. Most I've used would crackle and fade when you moved a half inch or turned your head- very annoying- these were awesome in that regard. That being said, you must realize that if you go into another room or more than 20 ft away it'll start fading and getting static. Mine does if I go to bedroom or kitchen (600sqft apt) but is tolerable and actually great for FM phones. ALL makers completely BS the ranges- if it's nightime and no breeze and you're outside and you live in a flat barren acre of the desert- you MIGHT get half the distance they quote. These are pretty much for same-room viewing and do a great job at that! Take the time and try a few different spots for xmitter base. If you have line of sight- you may consider IR headphones- never had em but supposedly digital error-correcting for nice clarity. Comfort is average- I find the cups too shallow and my ear hits the hard inner part- sore after a couple hours- but I can go hours each night no probs. It's winter and don't know how sweatty they'll be this summer? The good: best quality and clarity I've owned, refurbs great value, batteries are awesome (NiMH not NiCad), sleek auto-charging stand. The Bad- maybe uncomfortable for some, channel switch is 5mm from volume (always hitting it). Bottom line- one of the best value rechargable FM headphones out there, none are perfect!
Digital camera Review: After 3 months of using Summary: 5 Stars
I waited to give a review till I had practical experience using them. The sound quality is very good as well as the comfort. I really like the ability of being able to control the volume at the headset unit. When I get about 30 feet away from the base unit through a few walls I get a bit of hiss which is tolerable.
The battery life is excellent and even with rechargeable batteries. I have never run out of power wearing them all day.
For me they have become an indispensible part of my computer use.
The Ultimate Test of My Experience
If I ever manage to destroy these I would immediately repurchase another unit. For me the high price is worth the benefit I get from this product.
A word of caution: I would say that the average user of headphones tends to listen at levels that are too loud. I'd start with a low volume level and turn up till the volume meets your listening needs. Just like diamonds, hearing damage is forever.
Digital camera Review: Almost a disposable product - banned in the bedroom Summary: 2 Stars
THE GOOD
THe design of these are quite nice. Very sturdy product.
THE BAD
The design of the volume dial is right where your head leans back in a chair or pillow. I got these so I can watch TV without
It interferes with mobile phones quite easily. The iPhone charging next to the nightstand would send nasty sounds to the headphones and the headphone stand was on the other end of the room.
The pads on the head and the ears are a soft fabric and after a few uses they need to be washed or they will smell like old socks. This is not sweat, this is normal absorption from the head and face after 10 - 15 uses.
The volume can be heard through the ear pads so everyone next to you can hear what you are listening to. Wife not happy about me using these in bed. She kicked these headphones out of the bedroom!
Still shopping. I got the 130 because I figured they would have figured out the design issues by now.
Digital camera Review: Almost but not quite Summary: 4 Stars
Bought these based on brand name reputation and reported effective range. Light and comfortable, reasonable sound quality, but hoped for a little more musical detail, base response and clearer midrange. High frequencies more in line with what I would expect from a lesser quality headset. I bought them for use with my home stereo, but found they are mostly only effective for about 20 - 30 feet, before there is substantial drop off in quality and reliability of the reception. I knew there would be a trade off for wireless, but was hoping for a little more than I got. As my four star review indicates, I think they are adequate, and the price was fair, but wanted anyone considering them for hook up to a fairly high quality stereo to know what to expect. I will use them, and would recommend them unless anyone knows of a wireless product that performs better for a similar price.
