Digital camera reviews of Sennheiser RS 140 Wireless Balanced Headphones

Digital camera Review: great but has one design defect
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great headphone. However, the volume control is located in a bad position and is so easily turning that when I rest my head on a pillow, then the wheel keeps moving so that the volume keeps changing. This is very annoying.

BTW, I had mine for over 2 years now and is works great.

P.S. I hope the grammar police will forgive me for using the singular word "headphone" and not the plural one.

Digital camera Review: Very Good
Summary: 5 Stars

The RS 140 headphone provide good stereo sound and the reception work very well between the walled rooms. They could be a bit more comfortable when I'm laying on a pillow to fall asleep while listening & watching TV. However; there are a great value for the functionality and I would recommend them to people whose mate can't sleep due to the TV sound.

Digital camera Review: Excellent Headphones
Summary: 5 Stars

If you or someone in your home is hard of hearing, this is the perfect product. My husband has a difficult time making out all the words while watching TV. With these headphones, he can hear clearly all the words and enjoy the program we are watching. He no longer has to ask me, "what did he say?" I would recommend it to those who want to enjoy watching TV without interruption.

Digital camera Review: Sennheiser Engineering pulls it off again!
Summary: 5 Stars

I wear these phones several hours a day, usually 3 to 4 days a week in an Electronics Manufacturing Plant with LOTS of interference and noise. Its an Excellent place to test the "Spurious Rejection" ability of the Sennheisers to filter out noise and static. Several am/fm radios I've tried could only receive static and one talk radio station here. I purchased an ipod touch and now an iphone with music players and internet Radio Station Aps in them, and plugged them into these Sennheiser Phones and put them to the Test. The Signal over wifi and/or 3G has NO static, and the Sennheiser's Filter out the Plant Noise like its not even there. You have to fiddle with the switches a little at first, especially the AUTO TUNE button on the Right Earphone as you move about several times till it learns about your inviroment, but after about 5 minutes and several tries, it locked in and works GREAT with no fall outs, noise or static at all. Like I said, it takes a few tries.... on about the second try, it was alwmost there, but would make a clicking or bumping sound as i moved around the plant, pushing the button occasionally when the sound was best. Once it locked in, NIRVANA and Wonderful Tone!! The other GREAT feature is the QUIET AUTO SHUTDOWN, that turns to silence, instead of SNOW at full volumn like the previous model. ALSO dont forget to turn off "Alert Beep" feature if ya turn it on by mistake, or it will annoy you with "Status Beeps" to let you know if its happy or not. I guess if you have a problem with the phones, you can turn on this feature to hear the status of the battery and several other functions which are explained in the paper user manual that came in the box. I am Very Satisfied!! Thank You Amazon and Sennheiser for a Great Product and buying experience !!

Digital camera Review: WIreless means having to sacrifice quality
Summary: 3 Stars

Hi all,
I purchased the RS140 model headphones about 2 months ago and am happy with them, however the quality of these headphones is still not up to par with wired headphones.

There are "channels" that you can scroll through to adjust and maximize the signal strenght but no matter what I try to set it at, I always hear a backgroud hiss that is only noticeable when the volume is turned down to a low level. Once you turn the volume up, the hiss pretty much is drowned out by whatever you are listening to.

Overall, the quality of the sound is 3 1/2 stars since you can still listen to clean music and movies, however depending on how you even move your head, the signal strenght can weaken and decrease the sound quality dramatically until you "adjust" your head - this can get pretty aggravating. When walking around the house, I still hear the audio that I am listening to, but will hear hissing and static on occassion.

Placement of the base is very important and according to the instructions, you need to try and keep it away from televisions and other devices that may interfere with signal strenght. This to me is kind of silly since the cord that connects from your base to the equipment you are using is only about 5 or 6 feet long and that's not including having to fish the wire around potential obstacles that will shorten the distance even more. So, realistically, if you have your audio device close to a television and other electronic devies (which most of us probably do), then chances are the sound quality will be compromised somewhat.

If you want a wireless headphone set up that does what it is intended to do with some hissing (depending on set up), then you will he happy with it but don't expect crystal clear audio as again, for the most part, wireless headphones will pick up interference from other devices in your home which will cause a little static or hissing.

If you are an audiophile that demands crystal clear audio out of your headphones, then I would stay away from these and purchase higher end equipment or go for a wired set up.

I am happy with mine overall but wish that I can do something to minimize the hissing (thus the average rating); On the other hand, I am still glad I purchased these and have no regrets.. for the money, they are an avergage but good headphone that definitely does get the job done.
