Digital camera reviews of Sennheiser RS 140 Wireless HiFi Headphone with Dynamic Compression System

Digital camera Review: Big Improvement
Summary: 4 Stars

I've had these about 3 weeks now, bought them to replace an older model Sennheiser. One earpiece had broken and couldn't be repaired. I had always had a lot of trouble with hissing with the old set, and the sound was not great. With the new 140 that problem is gone. They even sound good in the next room. I have learned, though, that construction matters, which might help explain the varied experiences given by others here. Some reviewers have said the controls are too close together, but I don't agree. After the first use, I was used to the layout. Overall, I'm very happy with the 140. My only complaint is that the base/recharger is rather large (tall), so it doesn't fit well on my TV stand. Sound is quite good, I think, unless you are an audiophile. I have some hearing loss, and the compression mode works well for me. And the Amazon price was better than most. A good wireless headphone for TV/movie watching.

Digital camera Review: Bought for iDoser, Would be a great item, if it didn't experience so much interference
Summary: 2 Stars

For all those who are buying this for idoser, I am EXTREMELY surprised to find out that doses work with these earphones. I experienced so much interference that it sounded like DSL, and thats not an exaggeration. This item uses the 900 Mhz range, so I checked the neighborhood for cordless phones.

My house uses 5.4 Ghz, one neighbor uses 3.6 Ghz, and the other uses 5.4 Ghz. I got an extreme amount of interference, with no 900 Mhz device to be found.

If you are looking for good audio quality audio, don't waste your time on this. For me, interference (clicking, tones, and static) being mixed in the audio completely ruined any audio I tried to play on it. Get headphones with a cord, you sacrifice the walk around your house ability, but you don't get maddening interference.

Earphones were comfortable, seemed to keep a decent charge, its nice that you can swap out the batteries when your device gets older. The docking station is a little bulky, and because placement is key, can move your headphone station to the other side of your room (to be far away from electrical equipment, and reduce interference).

The noise gate never seemed to work, it is unbearable to wear these headphones during pauses or times where the input audio is low.

You might have better results, but if you are geeky, or have electrical equipment, its not the best buy.

My headphones probably came defective, the interference I was experiencing was unimaginable for a working device, but buyer beware, you might have to waste your time returning the defective product after hours of troubleshooting and moving your transmitter around like I did.

Digital camera Review: Buy Two!
Summary: 5 Stars

Being of a certain age, I have some hearing loss. I find it especially difficult to follow dialogue of movies and TV dramas played through our TV's speaker. My wife Barbara is deaf in one ear and has the same problem. I bought the RS 140 and the HDR add-on headset. They work very well. The sound quality is excellent. They are comfortable to wear. And now we are enjoying our Netflix DVDs ever so much more. (Because the earpads seal so well, conversing is nearly impossible, and we occasionally miss phone calls.)

I also enjoy streaming audio from my computer, especially public radio news and talk programs and music from the online services of public radio stations (e.g., jazz from KUWL). So I found that I was regularly shifting the transmitter back and forth between the TV and the computer. I had hoped to be able to buy a transmitter separately, but I couldn't find a way to do that. So I bought another RS 140 set and now have an unnecessary headset. But it's worth the price to have the convenience. Now when I want to listen to talk or music I find it on the computer and listen anywhere in the house, including in the basement.

I bought my first RS 140 and add-on headset from Amazon. I bought the second RS 140 from J&R, which (as of mid November) had an excellent price and free shipping.

Digital camera Review: Changed my life for a new dad
Summary: 5 Stars

A few items came before this earphone that have had profound impact in my life... items like Gillette Fusion or Oral-B Triumph. This yet is another revolutionary product.

I am a new dad and have a Sony 40" LCD. I decided to get this after watching Resident Evil (to take a break in a mindless reality) with subtitles and 1-bar sound on TV.

Just received this. I held my daughter tonight while watching TV at regular volume with the headset on. She felt asleep soundly on my chest. I screamed miracle inside.

Ok. For the audiophiles, I would say this headset is not as good as Grado r60, but it's definitely amazing for watching tv wirelessly. I can watch tv with the volume completely down (perhaps it's a function of my tv) and the sound is perfect. The range is great. Having owned a Sony first generation wireless headset (back in 1992), this range is better. Although I found the infrared Sony wireless had less hiss when you are standing in the line of sight of the headset.

The convenience of charging the headset on the cradle is ingenious. The headset is also comfortable to wear for a big headed guy :-)

In summary, the combination of sound quality, convenience of hassle-free charging, wireless range, and comfort makes this headset a great buy.

Digital camera Review: Completely Satisfied
Summary: 5 Stars

Honestly, I read some of the review about this product, and I have another less expensive wireless headphone, so I didn't expect outstanding performance for this one. However, after I receive it, I have to say it is outstanding. It does not have the expected static noise from my other wireless headphone and some of the reviews of this product from Amazon, and the sound quality is excellent. I would say, compare to HD 650 it has some distance, but for a wireless headphone, I believe this is the best!
