Digital camera reviews of Sharp SPC364 Atomic LCD Bedside Alarm Clock (Silver)Digital camera Review: This little thing here Summary: 3 Stars
Truthfully, this thing is incredibly difficult to figure out. It took me near 15 minutes trying to change the time zone. I had to put it away until I could keep my cool in order look at it again. It's nice but it takes a while to figure the thing out when you first get it.
Digital camera Review: This personal atomic clock works great for me Summary: 4 Stars
I have read other reviews, but to the contrary, I now have 3 of them around various places in my home, ie. bathroom, desk & now the laundry room. They all were able to sync up with the appropriate time, however gettting out of daylight saving time, one did not shift the time zone. Which brought me to buy this 3rd one with instructions. Which said to change the zone you hit mode, set (change the zone), and then mode again. Pretty easy. Then I hit recieve and we're all good. It's nice to have accuracy if that's what you're into. Nice personal clock.
Digital camera Review: Trouble Picking Up Signal Summary: 2 Stars
I have two of these clocks. I love the accuracy of atomic clocks so wanted them to keep me on time in bathroom in morning. However, this clock does not seem to be picking up atomic signal because over time it loses minutes. Perhaps a one-battery atomic clock is not good enough for connecting with the signal (from Colorado isn't it?) when one lives in Virginia, as I do. We have two other atomic clocks in the house, both of which require more batteries and have no trouble picking up the daily atomic signal. So, I am looking for small atomic clocks with more than one battery. Agree with problems with instructions - have to dig them out whenever I need to set anything on clock. Not self-explanatory like more clocks.
Digital camera Review: WORST ALARM CLOCK EVER Summary: 1 Stars
I cannot emphasize how horrible the Sharp SPC364 Atomic LCD Bedside Alarm Clock (Silver) is. One star is too much. I've had it for over a year now and I am looking forward to it dying.
As other reviewers have noted, it is not intuitive. I've used a lot of alarm clocks. I have never had so much trouble performing basic functions like setting the time. One reviewer suggested just putting in the battery and waiting for it to adjust itself. No chance of that plan succeeding with the one I own!
I suspect it may be suffering from a multiphasic temporal convergence in the space-time continuum (silly Star Trek speak). It randomly changes time zones and dates (it seems to be partial to the West coast in 2002). I finally have the time set now (I didn't even bother with the date/day), but I don't trust it, and I wish I had bought something else.
Worst of all is the annoying beeping. Apparently, the manufacturers determined that every time a button is pressed it ought to be accompanied by a beep. I don't want to touch it again, but I will have to when it is time to change the battery :(
Digital camera Review: What a waste of time and money. Summary: 1 Stars
This clock is supposed to automatically reset the time to account for daylight saving time. It doesn't.
Figuring out the correct set of buttons to push to MANUALLY reset the time (one of the functions an atomic clock is SUPPOSED to do) for daylight saving time is impossible without the instructions.
The only good thing about this clock is that it's not expensive, so I only wasted a few dollars when I threw it away.
