Digital camera reviews of Shure E2c Sound Isolating EarphonesDigital camera Review: 3rd Pair Summary: 5 Stars
I'm on my 3rd pair of earphones. Not because they break, but I keep forgetting them in the seatpocket on the plane. Whoever finds them are in for a treat. They are worth every penny. I hate listening the the terrible music at the gym. Also, I do not want to turn up my Ipod to drown out the ambient music and lose my hearing. They also work great in the airplane (if you don't forget them).
Defintely worth the money.
Digital camera Review: A Comparison Review Summary: 4 Stars
I tested my e2c's, using an iPOD with CD-quality sound files, by comparing them with two other earphones, one was a pair of exp70's, the generation prior to the current exp71,s. Their bass response has been moderated by closing off the external ports, a common mod for these phones. The other pair was my faithful old Sony MDR-62 compact external phones, considered by many to be one of the best put out by Sony. I won't get into tech specs. This is a seat-of-the pants reponse. I tested with a current jazz number which had clearly seperated instruments, guitar, piano, harmonica, vocals, and bass, in order to get a good comparison of the entire range. Immediately evident was the superior efficiency of the Shures, as evidenced by their higher volume level. I used to think the exp70's were great, but the Shure's blow them away with a richer, fuller, more detailed sound. The bass, prominent and boomy with the Sony's is moderated, but definitely still there, just crisper, flatter, and more distinguished. The Sony external phones are a close second, but require a much higher sound level, of course. The exp70's, which I once thought were pretty good, have to take a very evident last place compared with the other two. There is simply no comparison with the Shures, in terms of sound quality. In terms of useabilty however, the Shures are definitely in last place! The design is simply awful, requiring you to fit them in a very specific manner, with the cords wrapped over and around the ears. Just getting them on and off is a real project, and I feel very conspicuous while wearing them. Their superior noise cancelling abilty (better than the Sonys) will definitely require removal in order to communicate with anyone. Therefore I consider these phones to be most useful when I can be seated for some time, say on an airplane, and don't expect to be disturbed very often. These phones are much more sensitive to proper placement in the ear canal than the Sony's, in order to get good sound. And, although thay come with three different styles of sleeves, I am still experimenting to get the same comfort level as the Sonys. In short, their sound is definitely superior. Their useabilty is simply awful!
Digital camera Review: A Great Buy! Summary: 5 Stars
These earbuds are fantastic! They work well with everything! I'm a professional drummer and I use them mostly for live and studio performing, they save my hearing and increase my mix. They also sound amazing on my iPhone (iPod, whatever) when I'm traveling, whether it be by train, walking or plane. I've read reviews on how they can be uncomfortable when used for long periods of time, my advise is that you use a smaller sleeve for it. I have NO complaints about this product! It can be insanely loud if you want, or comfortably isolate outside noises. If you are a musician with a budget or a traveler looking for better sound quality, this is your product. A great buy for a great price, I recommend these to everyone. P.S. Joggers, they won't fall out of your ears!
Digital camera Review: A bit indifferent Summary: 3 Stars
Had heard all the rave reviews of this item, and was anxious to try them out. As it stands, my expectations were set a bit too high, as they do not measure up. Granted, they are good little earphones - but not as much a step up over other (cheaper) versions I've used, such as those by Sennheiser. Also, you really need to ensure a good, solid fit for the bass to kick in (as was expected). I give them three out of five stars.
Digital camera Review: A difficult fit Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased these earphones for my daughter's 17th birthday. Despite having an assortment of ear piece sizes, my daughter could not get these earphones to fit properly and subsequently the sound was inferior.
I would suggest to any buyer to try these earphones on for proper fit and sound before purchasing.
