Digital camera reviews of Shure E2c Sound Isolating EarphonesDigital camera Review: A great pair of headphones Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this product after reading a couple of review on it. I was looking for an upgrade from the stock headphones supplied with my ipod. I was not looking for anything which would break my wallet. I ended up having this and I do not regret.
E2c is surely a very able headphone. It cancels noise effectively. Initially I was not getting the enough bass. But it turned out that I was not wearing the headphone properly. It must go in firmly into your ear and stay put there. That creats an isolation and enhances the bass.
I have no complain about the treble. It is very sharp, distinctively ahead of ordinary headphones.
I am not an audiophile but I wanted to move a little up from the usual experinece of listenning through stock headphones supplied with the electronic products. I am very happy that I have chosen Shure E2c.
I have no problem with fitting the headphones into my ears. All in all it is a great pair of headphones with an affordable price tag.
Digital camera Review: A great pair of headphones! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought these as a replacement to some low end headphones that I paid around $20 for. I review Japanese music of all types, from pop to death metal to noise, and in the past 2 months have heard about 8000 songs through these headphones, along with NPR programs and the like, and not once have I had a problem with sound quality, these are great all around, for all types.
The canceling is amazing, I can keep the volume under 1/4 max on my iPod 95% of the time, and I use public transportation daily.
The fit is quite good after a day or two, and the headphones are second nature for me now.
These are definitely the best, and all the positives I;ve heard are not overstatements, these things really are great, I would really recommend them!
Digital camera Review: A little trouble, but worth it. Summary: 4 Stars
I've been using these with my Rio Nitrus for the last year or so. Almost all my use is for my daily 45 to 60 minute walk.
The sound quality is superb, and the isolation incredible, so much so that I have to be sure to keep an eye out for cars, since I can't hear them. I've also used these on a plane, and again, the outside noise is almost completely eliminated.
The sound quality is like having the musicians inside your head. I've read complaints that the Rio doesn't play loud enough, which is true with the junk headphones that come with the unit. But with the Shure E2Cs, I can get far more volume than I'll ever need.
On the downside, the Shure E2Cs require a little bit of work. You need to select the proper sleeve to make them fit into your ear canal properly. Mounting the tiny ear wax shields is akin to threading a needle. And getting them in your ears and getting the cord situated properly takes some trouble, even as much as I've used them.
One more thing. The left channel went dead after about a year. I sent them back to Shure, and due to the two year warranty, they replaced them free of charge. Give them credit for good customer service, but I hope this new set lasts longer, since they're such superb performers.
Digital camera Review: A real mixed bag Summary: 3 Stars
I just got these and have very mixed feelings about them. I've been trying the smallest of the earpieces in all 3 choices and still can not get them to give me the type of seal these earbuds require to deliver the type of sound they are capable of producing. The larger ones are far too big for my ears. How do I know they can produce a terrific sound? Just gently press them against your ears with your fingers after finding best fit and suddenly the bass response increases hugely and the sound becomes much richer without losing the sense of accuracy..they sound terrific. Release your fingers and these go to the other end of the spectrum. Brassy and bright and little bass response, etc...sound really bad, and really not worth the listen.
While you can get a similar effect by doing this with most any earbud, most other earbuds do not require the perfect seal to give you a good response. I've been using the 15 dollar Sennheiser MX500's and they sound much better just hanging on my ear
I think the Sure's are terrific if you can get them to fit properly...I really cant get them to do that no matter how much fiddling I do.
EDIT: Thought to add to my earbud odyssey. Traded these in on Sennheiser MX500's and Koss Plugs and pocketed some 25 bucks. The Koss Plug works the same way as the Sure except they are around 12 bucks and are much easier to wear and the fit is much better in my ears. Sound isolation is really good and you get to hear all the stuff because the Plug does fit in your ear canal..Highly recommend the Plug
Digital camera Review: AMAZING I CAN WALK ON CITY STREETS AGAIN!! Summary: 5 Stars
thank you shure for really professional products. I bought the E2c earphones since I have a problem distinguishing conversation from background noise. Besides noise drives me to a jittery and frantic state which I hate. this is my 5th commercial product for the same purpose but this is the first product to meet my expectations. shure knows how to isolate sound. this is not a marketing slogan. it is a reality. I can walk on a busy seattle street during rush hour and not hear any significant noise. It is amazing. These tiny things I plug in my ears have freed me up to go out at times I would not normally go out. I have tried all the over the ear "noise cancelling" phones ranging from a cheap $10 one to the most expensive. All they do is add some white noise in your ear hoping that this will block out other noise. well, IT DOES NOT WORK PLAIN AND SIMPLE. Shure on the other hand plugs the phones tight in your ear to physically prevent miscellaneous frequencies from getting to your ear drum and beyond and IT WORKS. almost all noise is gone, even when utilities work was going on outside, even when your dishwasher is on, even when your neighbor is mowing his lawn etc... I don't know how to flatter these guys further but this shure product is adequately priced. It is NOT expensive. Bose has a "loud" marketing machine but no real technology to stand on. Shure has the merits and is appropriately quiet and calm in their marketing effort. my kind of company.
Note: some people are reluctant to buy in-ear product fearing it will be uncomfortable. well, shure is mindful of that and they provide you with 18 different shapes and sizes of the plug-in to make sure you find the one that fits your ear size. It took me all of 5 minutes to determine the one that fits me right and from there on it is smooth sailing. I have been using them for over a month now, for several hours on end with minimal to non-existent discomfort.
Note: the part in touch with your ears is easily washable and dries up in a few minutes after which you can put it back on.
