Digital camera Review: A VERY IMPRESSIVE CARTRIDGE / A NON-OPPRESSIVE PRICE

I don't claim to be an expert, but I like to think I know what sounds excellent. Earlier in the week, I received my M97xE cartridge in the mail (AMAZON) and the sound quality is outstanding. It took me about an hour to set it up properly (I guess I'm a little rusty) Anyhow, I cannot stop listening to my records each night after work. My dad came over to my house to hear it and said, "hey, hook me up!--I need a new cartridge too..."
$3000 turntables and $800 MC cartridges are truly works of art, but definitely not something that I can spend my money on--Unfortunatley, I have bigger fish to fry. If you've got it like that, then that is great. But for the average Joe, greatness can still be found for less....
I tend to prefer politically correct term "Audiophile on a Budget." I have always used a Full Manual Technics SL-1200 family turntable (now it's an SL-1210mk5g turntable) with my records (yes, people use these turntables for other things than scratch mixing--they're really good turntables w/excellent arm adjustments). In my opinion, when joined with the Shure M97xE cartridge, you have one of the best sounding combos under $600. This cartridge is absolutely wonderful. Tonight, I listened to my War "Platinum Jazz" LP and moved the tonearm to my favorite track "Deliver the Word." I literally fell out of my listening chair when the Fender Rhodes Piano solo came up because the Shure just lifted the instrument off of the album--almost like a Revox B77 or Tandberg TD20A Reel to reel playing back a recording at 15 inches per second (only Analog nuts understand that comparison). The sound was always warm and smooth. Cybals were high and crisp with no "smooshy sound." With a Powered dbl 15" subwoofer the bass had considerable depth (more than my old Audio Technica cartridge). A good classical symphony will bring tears to your eyes with this Shure cart.
As stated in some of the other reviews, you will hear instrumentation that you never knew existed on your LPs.
Get a Technics SL1200 series turntable and this cartridge--a thousand dollar sound on a hundred dollar budget.
