Digital camera Review: Mediocre sound quality

This is my second pair of Shure earphones. After a month of usage, I sold the first one (SE110) on Craigslist. After a week of usage, I sold the second pair (SE210) on Craigslist. The main reason: the sound quality is mediocre at best. Certainly below average. No bass!
I tested the SE210 against my son's $40 SkullCandy earphones and against the pair I got for free with my Palm Pr?. We tested them with the music I like (Bach, Mozart, Mahler, Clapton, Peyroux) and the music he likes --whatever it is that teenagers listen to these days. My son and I disagree on who the winner is --doh! I vote for Palm, he votes for SkullCandy. But we agree on one thing: the worst pair is the Shure. And by far.
It's true that they are VERY good at isolating from ambient noise: they are terrific on a train or a plane. They are also very small and fit in your pocket, so it's easy to take them on every trip.
But the music sounds just plain and boring with these earphones. I much preferred to use the original Palm earphones, until I got a pair of Shure SHR 440 headphones. They are gigantic, they are heavy, they don't fit in your pocket, but do they sound great! Even though they fit above your ears and don't have any noise cancellation electronics, they are very good at reducing airplane noise.
My advice: keep whatever earphones you got with your iPhone, Palm Pr? or Blackberry and buy a pair of additional headphones like the Shure SHR 440 ($100). Skip the SE 210!
