Digital camera Review: Great IR Light

The Sima SL-20IR Night Vision Light is a great light for the price. The only downsides to it is it only holds a charge for 45 minutes if your lucky, and another is when you have the power adapter plugged into it the lights will not power up it only charges the battery. If you planned on using it on a tripod with the power supply forget about it. That's really the only downsides and other than that it's very light weight and really easy to use. The shoe mount that comes with it is very sturdy. I was impressed by that.Digital camera Review: Great IR light!

I have purchased four of these lights for my two camcorders. I have both a mini dv and an HDD camera. Being a ghost hunter, you have to have an IR light for your cameras or you'll miss shots in the dark.
These lights have worked phenomenally well for me! They are rechargeable so that means less batteries to buy. We go through enough batteries as it is so this feature is very helpful. They stay charged for a good while. We have run the lights on the cameras for as long as 2 hours and the lights stay charged. That's pretty good, considering.
I intend to buy 4 more of these lights so that each of my cameras will have the capacity to see a good distance in cemeteries and in open fields.
The lighting you get from these is exceptional as well! When you turn your video camera on nightshot mode then turn on your first IR light, you can see a tremendous difference! Then, turn on yet another and even more is seen in the dark. You have to be careful not to over illuminate smaller areas because you'll get that washed out effect.
I highly recommend these IR lights for ghost hunters and anyone else that spends a lot of time shooting video in the dark. These are exceptional products at a great price!

This is a great device, with the exception of the limited battery life. Average run time between charges is about 45 mins, so if you plan to use this for several hour you will want to own 2 of them.
Fair warning this light only works with cameras that can see IR light, such as Sony camcorders equiped with "Nightshot, or Super Nightshot mode"

The Sima IR light is a great light sorce for night vision. I use it with a Sony HC28 camcorder and get great results! Dominately used for ghost hunting, a single light is good enough for indoor hunting but for outside hunting you'll need additional lights. But the lights can be hooked together which is a sweet feature. My only complant is the battery life.... i only get 45min out of it. This sucks but i guess ill just have to buy additional lights. Overall.... great purchase!
