Digital camera Review: The microphone broke after two days

The machine got great reviews from others, but after two days of use, the microphone broke. My daughter is so disappointed and now I am in a bind trying to find another microphone. I thought this was an all in one type thing for the electronically-challenged, but apparently not! The singing machine is sitting broken and in a corner. We bought this for my daughter's 8th birthday. She loves just having it in her room and using it as a stereo and then picking up the mike and singing when the mood strikes her. We purchased a few karaoke CDs along with this and she didn't really enjoy doing it through the TV so she just kind of makes up the words as she goes along. I purchased this music machine for my 2-year-old granddaughter, who loves to sing all the songs on her mommy's ipod. She uses it that way or with a CD and knows all the words by heart (obviously she doesn't need them on a screen since she can't read!) I am very satisfied with the quality of the sound and the volume balance between the music and singing. She can hear herself quite well and gets a huge kick out of it. Her mother also enjoys using this in the usual fashion with the TV hookup showing the words on screen and karaoke CDs. (Her husband may be going crazy with all the singing going on, though!) I can see how it is suitable for a wide age-range and will be used for many years by the whole family. It is a real bargain for the price I paid.Digital camera Review: Very pleased with this karaoke

I bought this machine for my daughter's 7th birthday (Feb. 2008). It was great fun for the party and we used it maybe twice after that, but it no longer works at all (can no longer read the discs). I contacted the company and they offered suggestions, none of which solved the problem. The warranty period was a measly 6 months, which they must have determined was about as long as the product is likely to last without incident. I would not recommend this karaoke machine.
