Digital camera reviews of Skullcandy Full Metal Jacket Earbud, 11mm - MacSilverDigital camera Review: Gotta Love Skullcandy but buy the cheap ones Summary: 4 Stars
There are a couple of reasons I give these a "4". I expected these to be bullet proof but the wires rattle around where they connect to the earpiece. I have a pair of 12.99 11mm Skullcandy headphones from Fred Meyers and The sound quality is the same(honestly) but they arent flashy either so I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. For me its in the incredible value so I say buy the ink'd buds. Bottom line, skull candy has the best sound and price.
Digital camera Review: Great earbuds, provided you are gentle with them:( Summary: 2 Stars
I bought these Skullcandy FMJ ear buds as I also own a sweet little pair of Ink'd buds. After I bought my iPhone, the novelty of using the mic grabbed me. I was surprised that different combination's of pushing the button, could control the iPod component of the phone.
Unfortunately as much as I loved the functionality, comfort and sound of these FMJ buds; it did not take much of the average day to day walking around and flopping them on the table to develop a critical issue (absolute deal-breaker to me). The sound on the left ear bud suddenly dropped in level to approximately 50% of the level of the right side. The sound dropped on the side of the call answer button/microphone. I was previously aware of this issue, from reading through many of these types of reviews. Deciding to see for myself, I was disappointed and thus returned them for a refund.
I will continue to use my Ink'd buds happily, until the next generation of these things comes out. Thanks for reading, and good luck!
Digital camera Review: Great headphones...so long as you don't sweat on the mic. Summary: 4 Stars
These are totally fantastic headphones when they work. Great sound, good controls, nobody ever has a problem hearing me. Unless I decide to wear the headphones to the gym.
I had to do FOUR swapouts of these before I realized the amount of sweat that would get on the microphone when I used the elliptical was what was causing the mic/remote to short out. The mic wouldn't work, and the remote would randomly activate whenever this would happen. I work out hard, but what had been throwing me was the fact that I never had a problem with them when I was riding my bike by the beach for 4+ hours. I guess being outside, the sweat doesn't get on the mic as much since the wind blows it off. I've had my current pair for a month and have left them at home whenever I hit the gym, and have had zero problems with them.
Anyway, if you want to buy these and work out hard, I would STRONGLY recommend getting a pair of cheapo non-mic earbuds for the gym, as almost every other pair with a mic I've looked into has at least one complaint of someone having the mic short out if you sweat on it too much, or costs over $200. If you're able to spend that kind of money, more power to you, but frankly, I'm okay with not having a mic at the gym in order to save well over $100.
Digital camera Review: Highly Recommend Summary: 5 Stars
I waited until I worked out in the gym before posting review about skullcandy full metal jacket. I have to say that I highly recommend this product. The full metal jacket purchased from amazon for under 30$ with free shipping absolutely blows away other ear bud style headphones within this price range. The 11mm has a deep bass tone that I was desiring and low profile when worn. I am completely pleased with the secure fit that stays in place during exercise along with sound quality and noise reduction. The short standard cord with included extension cord is a nice feature since I wear my ipod on my sleeve and did not want the hassle of a long cord. Overall I am very pleased with this product.
Digital camera Review: Like All Earphones They Will Fail, But.... Summary: 4 Stars
Skullcandy is terrific about replacing their products under their lifetime warrany. Basically as long as the earphones are in one piece they will send you a replacement pair for free. The lead time on getting a new set can vary from 2-6 weeks. In my opinion this is more valuable then most cempany's byzantine warranty policies. I've had an mp3/portable CD player for years and earphones of all stripes just die, thats how it is. One day I may come across a company with bulletproof phones but unill then Im happy with skullcandy's relatively pain-free replacement process.
