Digital camera reviews of Skullcandy (Product Out Of Date, Newer Version Available) INK'D Earbuds (Black)Digital camera Review: Clean, cheap, nice sounding ear buds Summary: 5 Stars
If you're like me and are looking for some decent quality earbuds but aren't ready to invest in a higher-end model, these are a good choice. They're small, comfortable, and easy to put on. They're also very nice looking without overdoing the bling factor. The only true oversight in their design is the lack of 'L' and 'R' labels on the earbuds.
Regarding the sound: what others said about the bass is true. These buds have impressively clean, powerful bass. It's solid without overpowering or muddying the upper or middle frequency ranges. Because the low and middle response is so good, I was initially a little bit disappointed by the higher frequencies: high pitches are a little bit metallic and hissy, lacking the cleanness of the low end.
Overall, these are a solid pair of headphones that will stand up well to serious listening. I listened to them on a noisy bus today and found the noise reduction qualities of the tips to be quite satisfying: they brought the engine roar and conversation sounds down to a level where they were unnoticeable behind music. As others have said, the wires do conduct vibrations well, and you'll hear any internal sounds (such as chewing) very loudly with these on. However, it's pretty easy to get used to, and doesn't seriously disturb the listening experience.
Digital camera Review: Comfortable Summary: 5 Stars
I use these with my IPOD nano. I really find them comfortable. I couldn't stand the way the included apple ear buds irritated my ear. I can't comment on the sound for music though because I usually only listen to podcasts.
Digital camera Review: Comfortable and Practical Summary: 5 Stars
I love theses head phones. I have never found a pair that was as comfortable and stayed in my ear as I walked as these.
Digital camera Review: Comfortable, decent sound, but unfortunately does not last... Summary: 3 Stars
I had just worn through my latest pair of earbuds and was desperate for a quick, not too pricey, pair to take their place. I went to the local Best Buy and asked about the Skull Candy earbuds, a brand that was unfamiliar to me at the time. Being satisfied enough with the good feedback and a reasonable price tag, I returned home with a pair in black.
The physical quality was definitely comparable to pairs that may be $10 or so more. The sound quality was very nice though I feel, in my opinion, it was lacking a bit in bass. It all really depends on personal preference and how the buds fit in ones ears. All-in-all, they were just fine and surprisingly comfortable.
Now, one thing that disappointments me greatly is the longevity of this product. I have own these for maybe a month and they have already kicked the bucket. The way that the jack is designed to stick straight out, instead of bent, I think attributed to its quick demise. The wires just wore out too quickly from being wrapped around my media player when not in use. As these are made for portable media devices, they should be able to take more of a beating than that.
Yes, these are a good product, but only for as long as they last. I would only recommend these for in between ear buds or as an emergency back-up. For now, I will go back to past brands I have lucked out with, while exploring new options.
Digital camera Review: Comfy, great sensitivity and sound! Summary: 5 Stars
These earbuds like most other sound isolating earbuds I have tried can be annoying to wear if you are moving around a lot. Since the earbuds make a tight seal inside your ear, any movement in the cable will be conducted through to your ears. Therefore, I would not recommend these for wearing during a workout. This is not a fault of these earbuds alone but every pair that I have ever tried, so I will not knock these earbuds on that basis. That being said these are great earbuds, just don't buy them for jogging.
The sensitivity of these buds is much better than my standard iPod earbuds and several other aftermarket earbuds that I have tried (Panasonic, Altec Lansing, Phillips). I have probably tried 5 or so different sets of earbuds in the $20-$40 range over the last few years and after a little break-in time and finding the right size gel pad (3 sizes are included) to fit your ears these easily blow them all away. The bass, midrange and high end are all good. These really shine in the bass and low mids compared to most other earbuds and since they are so sensitive you can keep the volume lower and save battery life on your player. You will hear things that you have never heard before in your music, especially if you are using the standard issue buds.
Since there are 3 different gels to choose from as far as fit, these are also more comfortable for long listening sessions then other earbuds I have tried. They also offer good sound isolation, so these are great for work or in a moving vehicle.
They are light in your ears, light on your battery and light on your wallet while providing excellent sound. Give them a little break-in time and you will love them... I did.
