I purchased the SlingboxProHD in September 2009 to watch football while on the road. Hooked it up to my Scientific Atlanta HD-DVR box from Comcast and freed myself from the TV. We primarily use the box in three ways:
1) Away from home via computer to an HDMI-out to hotel TV.
2) On the dual display LCD monitor in the kitchen for a TV where there is no coaxial output.
3) On mobile devices (iPad and iPod Touch) for on the go.
My siblings are also able to share the box and follow hometown football from their homes. Just program the DVR and everyone gets to replay when they need.
Hook up is fairly simple.
Analog Pass-Thru = coaxial from wall to Slingbox to cable box to TV.
Digital Pass-Thru = component cables from cable box to Slingbox to TV
There is one caveat though. If your cable box is like most you cannot hook up the cable box to your TV via HDMI. If you try your component outputs will be disabled at the cable box and Slingbox will get no signal. This is a flaw in the HDCP copy-protection scheme which keeps consumers from recording HDMI/High Def feeds (thank you bloodsucking Hollywood!!!!).

I have had Slingboxes since they came out. This new one has all the bells and whistles you could ask for. I know some people have had problems installing or using it but I have learned since I have had these issues in the past that you need to update the software and if you still have issues their online assistance is the best and will resolve any issue you have quickly. I use the slingbox so that I can watch my home town NFL team. I set up the sling at a family member's house. The nice thing is that the sling pro has its own tuner. Thus, I just plug the cable directly into it- I don't have to use a cable box.
TIP
Even though I have the sling connected to cable, I selected the input as an antenna. This allows me to get a free over the air HD signal instead of the SD signal that comes with the cable company. I guess the cable works as an antenna too?

I have heard about slingbox but I never thought that this was something that I need until I move abroad to China. Althought, internet connections are limited here (speed and sites), the TV is even worse.
I got a Slingbox and plug-it to my cable in Brazil, the connection is routed thru US and got here, I am downloaded it in Shanghai. The connection range on 400kbps, and I still got a decent SD image.
Great product, specially when you link with a DVR.
