Best thing invented! I'm stationed in Japan and have it set up at my mom's house in North Carolina. Works exactly like it says. My current speeds average around 850 kb/s and the quality is pretty damn good and as close to HD as I can get. No complaints! If I can talk my non-tech savi mom over the phone into setting it up, anyone can do it. The wizard pretty much does it all once the cables are connected right. Now I can keep watching my Carolina Panthers in Japan LIVE. I recommend this to anyone!

The slingbox was easy to setup and works as advertised. What is not advertised is the apps for your phone/tablet device are an additional $30. That is just wrong.
To be able to watch on my Droid and Ipad costs an extra $60. To be able to do the same for my wife is another $60. That is outrageous.
Just to be sure you pay the $30, they do not support Safari, so you cannot watch it through the browser on an Ipad.

I received a slingox hd as a Christmas gift. The box works well, but the viewing software provided as a flash download does not. After working around the issue for a few months I logged in to chat with a customer support rep. Explained the issue and received and offer to fix the installation of their softwarae for only $29.99. As it turns out, you can't readily stream HD anyway. Thanks to my lovely wife for the christmas gift. Poor overall implementation and support. Oh well.

I NEVER stopped to write reviews but I don't want others to waste their time and money. Slingbox service has been down since August 5th 2010. They changed settings on their server and knocked out service. It's been sporadic for some and nonexistent for others. They have been HORRIBLE with communication to their customers. Leaving a total of 4 updates with a simple "we are working on the problem". Then they say that all is "good" and service is still out for a lot of people. Don't bother calling...$30 for some answers per call. Now they are sending out emails that they need to talk to the customer because it's nothing on their end, it's on our end. Funny how the box worked prior to the server changes and I've done nothing different and now I'm the problem. Don't waste your time or money until you know that the system is back up...not that you can tell from the website...and then REALLY think about whether you want to drop some good change on a poorly supported product...I wish I hadn't!!!

As of August 2010, apparently Slingbox has been doing system upgrades which have made it not only impossible to use the product, but they have also been very slow to respond with any kind of fix for these serious and apparently insurmountable technical problems. Unfortunately it appears at present that it is a 'customer-be-damned' policy that is in effect. Anyone considering purchasing a Slingbox product should think carefully about it and read the user forums on the Sling website before buying anything! Currently there are many, many people all experiencing the same problems with no resolution in site. If they can get these problems fixed, which so far have been going on for almost a month, their product might be worthy of looking at, but at present, tread carefully before spending money!!
