Digital camera reviews of Sling Media Slingbox PRO (SB200-100)

Digital camera Review: Best price for SB200-100 found.
Summary: 5 Stars

Had my sites set on getting the Slingbox Pro SB200-100 for quit a while.
I missed an Amazon promotion saving another 20 but got with free shipping for 201.00.
Great box - as advertised quickest setup of anything I have plugged in yet - no more than 5 minutes tops. Satellite tv was great via the box on local lan. I did have some minor issues setting up cable - the scan would not happen. I power cycled the box once and now everthing works 100%. Very kool to watch another channel on laptop - crystal clear.
Remote is a bit slow and have seen choppy due to corporate firewall/proxy - But not thru firewall works fine.
I would recomend for placeshifting - recomend the PRO box for the multiple inputs. Neat little toy - This Thing ROCKS.

Digital camera Review: Better than Sony LocationFree, but lacks Wireless
Summary: 4 Stars

The only thing keeping the SB200-100 from a full 5 star rating is its lack of wireless access. I have both the Sony Loction free LF-B20 and the Sling Media SB200-100 and I have to say that the Sling Box exells by far. The SB200 is very easy to setup and just works great, the dynamic bandwidth adjustment works flawlessly with almost any connection giving you the best picture possible at that time. The SB200 also works with more complex networks where the Sony Falls short.

Digital camera Review: Better than expected!
Summary: 5 Stars

Just recieved my Slingbox PRO last night and got it all set up in about an hour. Video quality is really remarkable and adjusts well to varying connection speed. A bit tricky to set up the remote viewing (so you can watch from computers connected outside your LAN) because my router has heavy security settings, but after about 1/2 hour of playing with my port forwarding settings it worked great from my neighbor's connection.

Also, I primariy use it on my Macbook with OS X and the Slingplayer Mac version works just great. Highly reccomend it for any TV junkie or for use with remote security cameras.

Digital camera Review: Beware
Summary: 4 Stars

Over all this product is very nice It does work as stated as long as you have a high speed conection. BUT check to see if it's compatiable with your tv, cable box, fta receiver, etc. The on screen remote control that is used in the slingbox software did not support my equiptment. Although tech support was very fast to reach, and in enghish I must add they were very aware of incompatable remote issues. With no resolve.I had to search out a third party remote program to resolve my issue. But it did not control all the functions of my origanal remote but did the job.

Digital camera Review: Beware of this device
Summary: 2 Stars

Is this device a cool concept? Yes. Is it worth the resounding headache? No.

I can't tell you the number of issues I've had with this thing. Configuring it is a joke. I'm pretty good at these things but can't tell you the problems. Their techs have been on the phone with me so many times stumped its ridiculous.

You may be lucky - your router might sync nice with this and you may have a cable box or satellite box that is listed. Otherwise, get ready for hell. Maybe you move, your router dies or you upgrade your modem - start the process over and pray it syncs easily. I bought a very popular directv box and spent forever trying to find the remote code. Then the router wasn't one of the options to configure.

GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. You will need it. Otherwise, its $30 every time there is an issue.

$30 if your phone stops connecting, $30 if you replace routers and they don't have it listed, etc, etc.

One more thing - DO NOT MOVE THIS DEVICE AROUND. It is built very cheap and things are easily broken. The IR sensors stopped working and I only moved the box 1 time to a different part of the room. I'm not sure if they just wore out or if moving it around dislocated something.

In explaining my frustrations and asking nicely for them to comp one of my $30 tech assistance fees I was hung up on. I mean really, that's how you're trained to get out of a situation with a customer. I guess they figured the next call would be simpler - could always blame it on a bad connection I guess.
