Digital camera reviews of Smartparts SPX8 8-Inch Syncpix Digital Picture Frame

Digital camera Review: Christmas Present
Summary: 3 Stars

Decent product. It has decent quality and looks. Shortcomings were that I had to unplug the cord needed to download the pictures for the remote control to work. Also, broke the stand trying to put it in. It was a cheap little plastic thing. I sent an e-mail to the company asking where I could buy a replacement but received no response.

Digital camera Review: Complete garbage - DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought two SPX8 Syncpix frames for Christmas gifts for family members. Upon receiving them, I tried loading photos into the first frame and found that the frame would not save any photos from my memory card (yes, I followed the instructions correctly). I decided to try the second frame to see if I had the same problem. The second frame would not even turn on. PLEASE believe the other reviews from users who have had problems with this product - I didn't, and as a result my Christmas gift-giving is now ruined.

Digital camera Review: Consumer Reports is Wrong
Summary: 2 Stars

I've had this frame for a while, and although it's okay for still pictures, beware if you want to display video clips. The video would not play directly from a flash drive, only from an SD card, and then without any sound. I tried recoding my video clip to different formats and only the uncompressed .avi file copied from the camera would play. Calling the 800 number provides a recommendation to e-mail for faster service. Any response by e-mail takes at least a day, with the answers never seeming to match the questions. The web page provides a tutorial for a firmware upgrade without any link to download the actual firmware upgrade file. I have a feeling this company consists of one person working part time out of their garage. I bought this originally based on the Consumer Reports rating, and they really got it wrong. Some people who have bought this product seem satisfied, but there are enough negative reviews that anyone would be wise to steer clear of it.

Digital camera Review: Consumer's Reports was right!
Summary: 5 Stars

This frame was really easy to use. Many reviewers rate this as difficult and confusing to set up. I had no problems. I placed all the pictures that I wanted on an SD card, put it in the frame, choose 'select all' and it produced a very nice slide-show. the Synchpix feature really optimizes every photo effectively. The video quality is the best on the market, look at other frames and you will notice the difference instantly. The auto off and motion sensor on feature is really good. (especially if giving to someone of low tech ability) And the 256mb memory is really extensive. The frame converts photos to the video without using much memory at all. I placed in a lot of 7 mp photos and didn't even dent the internal memory. It is no wonder that Circuit City cannot hold these in stock for more than a day. I shopped around for a good frame for many months, read many reviews and did a lot of research. Highly recommended.

Digital camera Review: Copying selected thumbnails all at once
Summary: 4 Stars

How do I copy all selected checked thumbnails at one time? When I press COPY ALL PICTURES it will print all the photos from the SD card and ignore the selected checked ones.

Also, if I try pressing COPY SELECTED it will copy only the first photo from the SD card and ignore the selected checked ones.

Am I doing something wrong or could the copy feature be defective?
