I use it both for taking notes and marking up PDFs. Works great. Easy to use. Have to turn Word docs into PDFs before marking them up. Also, I think you do need to have the full version of Adobe Acrobat to mark up PDFs rather than just the reader. Wanted one of these for a while. Finally got it - it more or less works, the pad is bulky and needs protection. The software is clunky. The plastic 'tablet' tip came apart in the pen when I tried to remove it. Could be really neat - with the right handwriting & indexing package. Because the tablet is large and the tablet interface while plugged in works in absolute mode - its a little clunky for use as a mouse, lacks the pressure resolution to be useful as an artistic tool. It's neat, just not $120ish neat.
Wish I'd tried one of the cheaper pen only versions.

This is a great product. I only wish it was wireless. I take notes all day at meetings. I can upload all my pages (without scanning!) at the end of the day. It goes with me in my car for those quick OMG moments when I need to jot something down.
It was a little hard getting used to advancing the pages since you cannot see what is on the page in memory . If you put page numbers on each paper sheet that correspond to the page number in memory you won't write over other memorized pages. Pretty simple, but not obvious until you mess up.
My only other complaint is that the pen does not have a "place" on the tablet. And they do not include a tether like cameras do. Buy an extra pen, for emergencies.
