I have a sony CD Walkman that I rarely used since I have my ipod nano that I use when I walk so I started using it beside my bed with my pillow speakers but it really used batteries fast. I purchased the Power Adaptor and it works great and I don't have to worry about my CD stopping in the middle for lack of power. For me it is great because I am using the CD player that was gathering dust and I don't bother my husband by using the pillow speakers. The use of this AC power adaptor has increased the amount of static to the point where using the radio with the adaptor is pointless. On battery the radio works very well, just attach the adaptor and all reception is lost.
Invest in batteries rather than this product.

Sometimes, the best praise you can give something is that it simply works. This is one of those items. In our case, the original adapter has been lost, and the CD player wasn't much good without it. When the adapter arrived, we opened the package, plugged it in, and the CD player worked. No fanfare, no parades, nothing other than we once again could listen to CDs on the player. Although this item seemed a bit higher-priced than other AC adapters, the instructions for my new Sony portable CD player specified this model. The instructions even said that using any other model adapter could cause a malfunction.
The Sony AC-E45A AC power adapter was definitely worth the cost.
Two features are especially nice: #1 The plug in head is slimmer than most adapters. That means it isn't so heavy and doesn't stick out from the wall as far as others. #2 The plug's prongs even fold in when not in use which is more convenient for packing.
