I was a bit skeptical about the utility if this protector for three reasons:
1. I've been using transparent adhesive film protectors on my cameras for years, and didn't think this would be any better.
2. I doubted that the cover would stay in place with repeated transfers into and out of my backpack style camera bag.
3. I feared that the cover would be easily scratched.
In all three categories, the Sony Alpha LCD protector excels. I can now view the wonderful A700 screen clearly -- the major issue I had with the adhesive film protector that prompted my move to this cover. It clicks in place easily, and stays in place until I remove it on purpose. And so far I have not scratched the cover, in spite of several long trips and a few thousand images taken. So I have no qualms about recommending Sony's LCD cover for the A700.

Excellent for its purpose, but highly overpriced for what it is. Its worth is in the protection it offers, so consider it like this: Value as a piece of clear plastic, maybe 20 cents, tops. Value as insurance to protect the screen makes up the rest of the cost: over $15 with shipping.
