Digital camera reviews of Sony BDP-S1 1080p Blu-ray Disc PlayerDigital camera Review: They will not make them like this again Summary: 5 Stars
Pictures do not do it justice. You will have to see Sony's BDP-S1 in the flesh to appreciate the fit and finish.Unfortunately when the market catches on, Blu Ray players will weigh about the same as an average laptop and feel flimsy.Just compare Toshiba's current Hd dvd players to their earlier models(HD-XA1 /HD-XA2)and you'll understand. In the meantime give yourself a treat;get one these before it's too late. And did I mention that the picture quality is excellent?
Digital camera Review: Unstable and glitchy Summary: 3 Stars
Bought this unit for two reasons because it was on sale and it was Sony. While the Picture is flawless and the sound is great, it doesn't always work as it should.
I have had problems with this unit not reading some Blu-ray movies. I thought since it was a brand new movie maybe the movie was defective so I returened it to the store and got another new one. When I put it in it did the exact same thing. So I went and tried the movie in a friends Blu-ray player and it worked just fine, but still wouldn't work in the Sony. Along with that it has locked up several times on us while watching a movie. I then had to reboot the player and then find where I was in the movie again.
Digital camera Review: Upconversion Not Like Toshiba HD-XA2 Summary: 1 Stars
Does not compare to Toshiba HD-XA2 for Upconversion. Blu-Ray may be fine but nothing compares to the Toshiba HD-XA2 for Upconversion that is out there on the market.
Digital camera Review: Very Pleased Summary: 5 Stars
Before purchasing the Sony Blu-ray player, I purchased the Philips Blu-ray player. I wasn't very impressed with it's quality; in terms of appearance or operation. The setup menus weren't organized, and the operation of the Philips unit was like operating a standard $150 DVD player. The Sony Blu-ray player is all together different and definately shines in terms of good looks and great operation. It, it's remote, and it's menus are very well laid out, and upon initial setup, it takes you through a setup menu which sets it up just perfectly for whatever HDTV you are using as well as for whatever sound system you are using. I'm not sure what they could do to make it any easier. Also, when you get this player, you also get access to Sony's web site where you can download (for free) any future updates and/or features. This is expensive equipment, but it is QUALITY equipment. Believe me, you won't be disappointed! If you want the best Blu-ray player, this is it.
Digital camera Review: What kind of blue ray is this? Summary: 1 Stars
I just seen the player this after noon at Best Buy and was really sorry about others' good comments about this player. I didn't have a chance to test the sound because I was so loud out there, but the picture, it was nothing to be impressed. I guessed it was a DVD upconvert at first. And after I asked the BB technician standing there I was so disappointed about Blue Ray. If this is all about blue ray, I rather buy a regular DVD player for Christ's sake. In addition, this player was playing through a Sony 40V2500 Full 1080p HDTV.
