Digital camera reviews of Sony BDP-S1 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player

Digital camera Review: Overpriced...for a reason
Summary: 1 Stars

This palyer actually plays quite well. The load times are shoter than I exspected and the picture Quality was superb. Why am I giving it one star then? Because it is overpriced and not in my opinion, it's a fact.

When Sony released the Playstation 3 this week, 2 statements sent up some red flags. They touted that although the system cost between $500-600 that is was a bargain considering it played Blu-Ray movies and stand alone players cost $1000. But later it was stated that Sony was taking a $250 loss for each PS3 sold. Now if you add that back to the price of the PS3 it's still $150 cheaper then a stand alone player. Take it a step further. Remove all the wi-fi equipment, card readers, graphics chips and you have a bare bones Blu-ray player that costs about $400. So why does Sony inflate the price so much? Because they can. They are the patent holder for the technology so anyone who wants to manufacture a Blu-Ray player has to pay the steep price for it. Sony can sell the PS3 at a loss because they know in the long run they have injected the BR technology into one of the most popular products around thus winning the format wars by default.

Digital camera Review: PS3 is a better buy over Blu Ray Players...Save your hard earned money!
Summary: 3 Stars

After comparing the Sony to the Panasonic DMP-BD10 and PS3...for the price the PS3 won hands down...Also the blue front panel on the Sony is a total turn off. In my opinion the prices of all the Blu-ray stand alone players are way over priced compared to the PS3...and the Toshiba's HD DVD A2...you can purchase a PS3 20GB and a Toshiba HD-A2 for less than some of the Blu ray players...and the Toshiba can be bought for under $400 and puts out a awesome HD Picture...I feel the best buy would be the PS3 20GB and the excellent Toshiba HD-DVD A2. A blockbuster deal.

Digital camera Review: Perfect for me
Summary: 5 Stars

About ten minutes to open box, slide it into my cabinet and look at Blu-ray disc. The image is the best that I have seen on a 40 inch screen. The sound is fantastic. Old SD disc image quality is boosted greatly on this machine by the way. The operation seems as smooth as can be. My previous player was the first machine that Sony produced. That one has performed flawlessly and should continue to do so in its new location. I have no reason to expect less from this Blu-ray. The box is a work of art... kind of like a special edition camera. It would be a major project just to make an empty chest that looks this good. Photos don't do it justice. In my cabinet it looks very different depending on the surrounding light. The white function lights comes through the glass and look great. You can't beat the breakthrough over the top production quality of something like this. Yes, it is a very good buy. I'm just an audio/video freak... not a lunatic. I won't wait around for another drop of perfection. I will just enjoy this for many years.

Digital camera Review: Pioneer, Sony, Samsung, etc. - Blu-Ray is awful
Summary: 1 Stars

I've had the Pioneer Elite, a Samsung, and now a Sony BDP-S1 and I truly feel ripped off. They all take--no exaggeration--between 5 and 10 minutes to load, they're fussy, they freeze. When the disks are running, OK, they look good, but the bugs are endless. I've yet to speak to anyone who doesn't dislike his Blu-Ray player. I truly hate this technology.

Digital camera Review: Region Capacity
Summary: 5 Stars

My question is that blue-ray could reproduce movies of all regions, i mean, movies in the Unites States are region 1 but it changes depends of the country, but i want to know if it plays all regions movies!!! Thanks
