Digital camera Review: 1st Time Home Theatre Buyer - So Awesome and Impressed Thank You Sony
Summary: 5 Stars

I received the package as said by Amazon. The only drawback is that I didn't hear the knock on the door and they didn't call me when the package arrived so I would know to answer the door. If you live in a bad neighborhood before you'd know what I am talking about.

Opening the package was a breeze and everything was nicely put together. There is a one page directions for easy set up and that is all you need folks. I hooked it up with my Ipod and color coded all the wires which is amazing because I remember doing that myself with older stereos. The speaker stands are nice too.

Turning on the system is easy as the setup and the surround sound is amazing. Sounds great in a room or living room. Ipod and Ipod touch compatibility is a huge plus. This stereo was even less at Fry's Electronics and at Best Buy.

I would recommend this to anyone who likes Sony like I do. I didn't want to spend more than $500 for a surround sound system and I got it for $325 which was even better.

The wireless hub for the two back speakers is also great. So I don't have to worry about spending more on speaker wire.

Digital camera Review: 1st time neophyte buyer of a Home Theater System
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this unit to complement a Samsung LN52a550 HDTV. Didn't feel there was enough sound from the unit to complement the samsungs outstanding video. Shopped for reasonably priced HTIB units and decided (despite cautions that most didn't perform) to give this unit a try. In my wildest expectations I never thought this unit would perform up to its marketing description. Placed in a den of that is approx. 15 x 25 and playing a Dolby DVD, it placed me in a cinema that provides sound effects that truly astounded. I'll qualify this by saying that I'm a audio neophyte but for this sound at this amount of money I am truly impressed.

Be aware that this Sony unit is being used with a Samsung HDTV and consequently the transition between DVD usage & HDTV usage (must change input source) is a bit bothersome. I found that in order to obtain full surround sound from the unit when receiving audio only from you TV (not from the DVD) you must purchase a digital optical cable.

Hope I haven't misled any one but if you select this unit I don't believe you'll be disappointed.

Digital camera Review: A incredible option for the money, fantastic sound.
Summary: 5 Stars

Edit: If you would like to connect all your components directly then this system is not for you, just get a receiver that meets your needs and then build from there.

Very easy set-up, the manual had easy instructions. The speakers sound amazing, the bass was a bit too loud when I first plugged it in, but after I used the auto-configuration with the supplied microphone it was corrected. I had no issues with setting up S-Air rear speakers, when I first set them up, my WiFi router was interfering giving me some "pops", but after I changed the channel on the WiFi it went away. The system was also very easy to program into my Harmony One.

The DVD/CD player is amazing, five disk holder is very convenient. The best part is watching a movie in Blu Ray, the quality of the sound really shines here. I have a PS3 so that is why I opted out of the more expensive Sony BDVE500W 5.1-Channel High-Definition Blu-ray and DVD Disc Home Theater System (Black) , but if you do not have a bluRay I suggest checking out the linked product, it is virtually the same system with a bluray play integrated, at the moment it is $200 more.

Important NOTE: I noticed some confusion about connecting peripherals and a HDTV to this system, I would like to explain how I achieved this buying only one extra cable (two if you intend to use the built-in DVD player). If you have an HDTV and all of your components are already hooked up, it is very simple, use one optical audio cable out from your TV to the receiver and then configure your TV to support 5.1 surround sound, usually in the audio menu. There is no need to run additional optical audio cables from your PS3 or cable box etc, if you are using HDMI to your TV, there is no difference in sound quality. If you are using the intergraded DVD player then you have run a HDMI cable from the receiver to your TV.

Again, there is no noticeable difference between HDMI and optical audio, in fact technically HDMI provides better sound. So it only necessary to use one optical cable from the TV to the receiver.

Digital camera Review: Absolutely No Complaints
Summary: 5 Stars

Bought this to pair with a 52" Sony Bravia LCD TV and couldn't be happier.

1. Bass is great and sound quality is crisp and clear. "Night" mode is FANTASTIC (hit one button and bass and background noise are tuned down while dialogue is tuned up) - I live in an apartment building and don't want the neighbors angry when we watch movies late at night - above or below.
2. Have had absolutely no problem with the wireless rear speakers - no cracking, no popping, no sound going out - or anything like that.
3. Sony Bravia sync is very nice so the Sony TV and Sony system work together seamlessly - including on our cable remote.
4. Upconverting DVD player is fantastic - watched LOTR Return of the King on it the first night we got it all set up, and the upconversion was unbelievable...my boyfriend had to ask me if we were watching a blu ray on his PS3. Keep in mind that that particular movie was shot with very sophisticated high quality tech so upconversion (on any upconverting DVD player) is significantly better than say, Ferris Buellers Day Off or Monty Python and the Holy Grail. When it comes to those, nothing compares to blu ray.
5. Ipod dock is very convenient... love having it right there on the TV stand.
6. set-up was extremely easy and everything was color coded on the male and female ends of connections. Instructions were clear and easy to follow and included alternatives if you couldn't figure out the first way to do sthg, i.e. if you get lost in the menus it explains another way to do it.
7. Looks very sleek!

Digital camera Review: Adequate
Summary: 4 Stars

Overall, this system is good. Its appearance is OK for an inexpensive unit. It was easy to set up and has worked flawlessly for two months now. The sound is adequate and the auto-tuning of speakers was a big help. The best feature is the "night mode" which knocks down background sound in favor of dialogue. It could be improved, however. The speaker wires, which have special fittings that connect the front speakers to the main unit, are woefully short and thin. Read: cost savings. We have a small family room and the wires do not even accommodate our small family room. The remote is NOT backlit and is laid out poorly so it's easy to use the wrong button at times. The manual could be improved--where I need detailed information, the manual skips by lightly, leaving me to figure out how it works. There is no (800) phone for Sony in the manual--which tells me they don't really want to help the customer. Given the above, I rate it at a weak 4.
