Digital camera reviews of Sony Bravia V-Series KDL-40V4100 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

Digital camera Review: Big screen-Big entertainment
Summary: 5 Stars

After a year of research, I finally selected a Bravia 40 inch tv. It is just what I wanted and suits my viewing area perfectly. Delivery & service set-up were exactly as promised. Very easy to program and begin viewing. Completely happy with product and purchase from amazon.

Digital camera Review: Completely Satisfied with this TV
Summary: 5 Stars

I just purchased this TV and I am completely satisfied with it. I struggled between this model and the Samsung LN40A550 and I am very happy I went with the Sony despite the higher price. I was planning to buy it through Amazon but I went to PC Richards and they matched the price plus threw in a 5-yr extended warranty.
I do not yet have HD or digital--I access cable through a coaxial line and the guy who helped me to install it showed me how to bring in about 40 digital channels including a handful of high def channels using the autotune feature. They look great. I read a lot of complaints about the sound on the Samsung but I think the sound on this TV is very good. I accessed about 40 audio channels of all different music types and the sound is excellent.
The picture is clear and bright and the colors are very natural. I don't know the technical aspects but aesthetically the picture is really amazing. I record and watch old B&W movies from TCM on videotape and even these look good. At least now I can see the expression on the actors' faces which I could not do on my old 21 inch TV. I'm now thinking about upgrading my recording equipment to a upconverting DVD recorder so I can take full advantage of the picture clarity.

Digital camera Review: Dead after 18 months
Summary: 2 Stars

This model has top notch picture quality and improves on my previous 32" Sony LCD. Then, 18 months later, or 6 months after the warranty expired, it won't turn on anymore due to its faulty power supply. I was shocked because of my previous reliability experience with Sony TVs. Then I found out that the Sony Service Facility here in Burbank, CA no longer exists. They have other locations, but they don't service consumer products. Sony's website will list authorized independent service providers, but most of those providers in my area have bad consumer rating ([...] or reviews from Google Maps!). So the only choice was a nationwide home service, that charges $99 just to diagnose (but will deduct it from the repair fee if you choose their service). Fortunately, the credit card that I used to buy this will extend the warranty. I just filed a claim for authorization from the credit card company for the repair.

Note that the previous 32" Sony LCD is still stable, and was manufactured in Japan. I wish they have the same quality control for this one.

November 13 update: So after having the extended warranty approved by Amex two weeks later, the service guy came in with the sealed box of the power supply part that was shipped from Sony San Diego. The box didn't show any sign of stress, and the part was wrapped in bubbles. The repairman inspected the part first, and guess what - the power supply board was cracked ! That tells a lot about Sony's quality control. Now I have to wait another week for them to get a replacement from Sony. Cross my fingers. Never buying another Sony product.

Digital camera Review: EXCELLENT TV
Summary: 5 Stars

EXCELETE QUALITY OF PICTURE AND SOUND. SUFFICIENT ENTRANCES FOR MANY DEVICES AND THE MOST IMPORTANT: VERY NICE PRICE FOR A REALLY HD TV...ONLY SONY CAN DO IT.

Digital camera Review: Excellent 1080P LCD
Summary: 5 Stars

Pros: picture quality, contrast, XMB menu, artificial surround sound, variable sound output level, 4xHDMI outputs, HDMI device control

Cons: can't think of any

Sony doesn't disappoint with this 1080p set. I was amazed at how great the image was right out of the box, but it was even better after a little tweaking. Standard definition is about as good as any other LCD. The speakers on the TV are very nice compared to other sets that I've heard and I love that it controls the sound output level so i can control my surround and the volume on the set with the remote. It works great with my PS3 as long as its in the "game mode" and Blu-Rays look amazing. I highly recommend this set.
